         <description><![CDATA[<div>Health Indicator:&nbsp; Early Childhood Development&nbsp;<br><br>One in six, or about 17%, of children aged 3 to 17 years have one or more developmental disabilities in the United States (CDC, 2022).&nbsp;<br><br>ECD, epi data from The National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH), funded by the Health Resources and Services and Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau (HRSA MCHB).<br><br>Poverty and Brain development:&nbsp;<br><br>Children younger than 18 years who live in households below the poverty line at a national level is around 17%, and 19% in the state of Texas (America’s Health Rankings, 2022). Research found that children in low-income or poor families had total gray matter volumes that were significantly smaller than in children with higher socio-economic status (Mercadante et al., 2022).&nbsp;<br><br>National Institute of Health MRI Study of Normal Brain Development (Blair et al., 2016)&nbsp;<br><br>Behavior Indicator:<br><br>Positive Parenting Self-Efficacy<br>The theories that best inform ECD are Community-based participatory research (CBPR) (Holkup et al., 2004), the Social Ecological Model (SEM) and the Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) (Bandura 1986).&nbsp;<br><br>Social Indicator:<br>Understand the link between the clinics and the community. Does the community trust health care providers?<br><br>Community-Institutional Partnerships: Understanding Trust Among Partners (White-Cooper, et al., 2009)&nbsp;<br><br>Environmental indicator:<br><br>Access to screening tools for ECD and access to health care for follow-up if developmental issues are identified.<br><br></div><div><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
