Poverty and Brain development: 

Children younger than 18 years who live in households below the poverty line at a national level is around 17%, and 19% in the state of Texas (America’s Health Rankings, 2022). Research found that children in low-income or poor families had total gray matter volumes that were significantly smaller than in children with higher socio-economic status (Mercadante et al., 2022).

Positive Parenting Self-Efficacy
The theories that best inform ECD are Community-based participatory research (CBPR) (Holkup et al., 2004), the Social Ecological Model (SEM) and the Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) (Bandura 1986). 

Social Indicator:
Understand the link between the clinics and the community. Does the community trust health care providers?

Community-Institutional Partnerships: Understanding Trust Among Partners (White-Cooper, et al., 2009) 

Environmental indicator:

Access to screening tools for ECD and access to health care for follow-up if developmental issues are identified.
