Scythe is a story about two teenagers Citra and Rowan. They both live in the near dystopian future and have lived in a world where death has literally been defeated. In the year 2042, the world’s artificial intelligence becomes sentient and forms an omniscient network known as Thunderhead. Because the Thunderhead has access to all that can be known, it can quickly learn how to keep humans alive forever. The Thunderhead are the ones put in charge of the government and rules benevolently and objectively. But the problem of overpopulation and finite resources persists, so population growth is maintained by a group of people known as Scythes. Scythes are the ones required to go out and glean a certain amount of people in order to balance out the space and resources for the people.
