         <description><![CDATA[<p>Chapter 1: in the beginning the Watson's are all sitting on the couch with sweaters, hats, scarfs, and three pairs of socks because it's freezing cold inside the house. Dad turned on the TV and when the weather reporter said the temperature in Georgia was in the mid-seventies. Dad tried to cover it by getting off the couch while also coughing loudly but he failed. later in the book Dad told Kenny and Byron to scrape the ice off the windows. Byron Caught his lips stuck on the window and Kenny told the whole family. Mom gave Byron's head a snatch and his lips came of the glass.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Chapter 3: Kenny Watson begins to form a friendship with Rufus Fry, a new student from Arkansas. Although Kenny initially hesitates to befriend Rufus, fearing that associating with the unpopular new kid might make him a target for bullying, he finds himself drawn to Rufus's friendly nature.</p><p>Rufus and his younger brother, Cody, are poor and often teased for wearing the same clothes repeatedly. Despite this, Kenny starts sharing his lunch with them and invites Rufus over to play with his collection of plastic dinosaurs. Their shared interest leads to imaginative games, strengthening their bond. Kenny appreciates that Rufus is trustworthy, especially compared to his former friend, L.J., who had a habit of stealing his toys.</p><p>However, their friendship faces a challenge when Kenny laughs along with other students mocking Rufus's clothing.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Chapter 4: Mom worries that her kids will freeze and bundles Kenny and Joetta in many layers of winter clothes. Byron tells Joetta a scary story about people freezing to death and being picked up by garbage trucks to convince her to wear all her clothes.</p><p>Kenny shares one pair of gloves with his friend Rufus, but his other pair goes missing. They soon realize that Larry Dunn, a school bully, has stolen Kenny’s gloves and dyed them black to hide it. Byron finds out, confronts Larry, beats him up, and retrieves the gloves. Kenny feels relieved to have his gloves back but also uneasy about Byron’s harsh punishment.</p>]]></description>
