Literacy is very important in higher education. There are several types of literacy but I think that the most important ones are the informational literacy, the ICT literacy and the language literacy because by using only these three literacies a student is capable of learning new skills and new facts on their own. So, if you can think and act on your own, nothing can stop you from achieving success

Knowledge is power, so we have more opportunities in life if we train ourselves. For example, if you speak a foreign language at a native level, you can move abroad.

If we considering about we living in information century, people first apply the method of gathering information and then processing and sharing. We can see the importance of literacy here. In order to make information sharing in the field of higher education, data should be collected first, read well and then analyzed and rewritten.

Before talking about my thinking I would like to introduce two of the most important literacy:
Information literacy is about where to find informations and critically choose which one is useful, it helps students between the big ammount of useful and useless information in internet.

Digital literacy is pretty similar, it's about digital knowledge, critical thinking and social engagement.
It helps and supports traditional literacy, is also about skills, competencies and reflections on how these are applied.

What I think is that is really important for students and also non-students, have these skills helps for example with privacy, copyright and even personal opinions, is easy to be the puppet of someone who write on internet and make you think what he wants.

How important is digital literacy?

What we can understand by "digital literacy" is one of those technologies in the classroom slogans presented by experts as being granular for 21st century students. It is everywhere, in the language of all. Through literacy and its various existences we can learn new skills and gain new doors for the future of a student, for example.
This is also important to be applied in higher education, creating our own opportunities for the future.

I think higher education makes students look on things more critically and look into things more deeply, by introducing them to tasks they wouldn't usually encounter in their daily life.
At this day and age literacy isn't just reading and writing, it is also the skill of analyzing and that is the most important skill for students. We are constantly surrounded by information and it is important to sift and examine this information carefully, since not everything we see/read/hear is true.
