The type of snake Cara was looking up is a Mountain King Snake because the Threadsnake is too small and the Rattlesnake is venomous. For example in the book Cara writes that the snake is not a Python, a Rattlesnake, an Anaconda, an Asp, or a Cobra. In addition on page 270 you can see that the snake is a lot bigger than a book but a Threadsnake is as small as a tread. Therefore the snake is not a Rattlesnake or a Threadsnake so it is a King Snake.

The type of snake Cara was looking up was a mountain kingsnake. For example the mountain king snake is not poisonous and dear Mr.Winston it said that manitoba (the setting of the story) does not have poisonous snakes so it can't be the western diamondback rattlesnake. In addition Mr. Winston might know the types of poisonous snakes so he might of thought that the mountain kingsnake was a deadly coral snake .(the coral snake is poisonous) Because they both have Black cream, and red band circles around their tail and body, but the king snake will have red and black bands touching each other unlike the coral snake .Also on page 267 the illustration shows that the snake is medium sized not worm sized like the desert threadsnake which means that it's not a desert threadsnake. Therefore Cara was trying to find a mountain kingsnake in the big reference book.

The type of snake Cara was looking up was a Mountain King Snake because in the text it says,"That snake isn't dangerous. It is a local snake, and there are no poisonous snakes in Manitoba." So now we know it is not a Diamond-Backed Rattlesnake. In addition, On page 270, you can see that it's a rather large snake, and that leads us to one snake. Therefore, The particular type of snake Cara was looking up was a Mountain King Snake.

For example, in the illustrations on pages 268, 270, and 271 it shows the snake and if you look closely at the snakes body you can see stripes exactly like the king snake. In addition, the Mountain King Snake is harmless to humans like Cara had said about her snake being perfectly harmless. Also, in the text Cara said that her snake was not a python, a rattlesnake, an anaconda, an asp, or a cobra.

I think the snake that Cara has been trying to look up is a Desert Thread Snake. For example, in Dear Mr. Winston The snake was kind of small. That would match with the Desert Thread Snake because both snakes are small. In addition, they also have a little more connections, and one of them is that they both have little black dots for eyes. This may be a great connection because in Dear Mr. Winston when Mr. Winston fainted maybe the snake c slithered on him because its eyes are literal black dots. Furthermore, they both are not poisonous or harmful. I know this because on page 266 Cara clearly said that the snake is a non harmful snake. Although that may not be true because When Mr. Winston fainted he got a rash but he maybe is just allergic. Therefore, that is why I think that the snake that Cara was trying to look up is a Desert Thread Snake.

Because it is about the same size as "Cara's" snake, and snake is also NONVENOMOUS.
For example, on pg. 266, Cara says that the snake is harmless, and not dangerous. Which cancels out the Diamond back Rattle snake. In addition, the picture on pg. 267 shows the snake is NOT that small, compared to the Dessert Threadsnake.
Therefore, I think the snake that Cara could've been looking up was a Mountain King Snake.

So If It had to crawl Into the pocket you know It would have to be tiny! And the two other snakes are really big! For example, Cara said the snake Is not venomous and It is completely harmless. In addition I bet that little tiny snake Is definitely slimy! And If Its related to a worm then It Is probably slimy! Therefore that Is all the things why I think Cara has the Desert Thread snake!
