1. The author uses a Compare & Contrast technique with Nature vs technology in the modern world to show out overdependence on screen time.

2. Paragraph 1 contrasts nature with technology & virtual world. Paragraph 2 gives example of person buying expensive car & refusing to get GPS . Paragraph 4-6 uses satire to compare life without technology to Oregon Trail.
 
3. These comparisons help the author develop his argument for putting down our screens by showing the disconnect between nature and technology.
