The potawatomi nation tried to resist the occupation and harsh treatment the US gave out,with the chief retaliating and saying "I will not sell my land. I will not leave my land and I do not want to hear anything about it"

The potawatomi tribes were later removed from the indian reservation, the chiefs followers and supporters were later pushed out by small US militias, this was believed to be inevitable due to the 'Indian violence' the governor claimed.

The chief was captured and arrested, the people were taken and put at gunpoint, the people were forced to move into kansas with the militia supervising the people.
