(Morning)- They set out again to the east, traveling even bleaker terrain than the prior day. But very soon they had a problem as their Packard’s engine began to backfire as they were traveling through the Chihuahuan Desert.

(Evening)-Drove another 200 miles with their car problem and made their way to New Mexico at 6:00 P.M. and checked into a luxurious hotel named Hotel Cortez in El Paso, Texas. Had a doctor named Dr. Wolfgang Ebell come in that night to check Nancy’s health as she was sick and examined her.

Hazel called her friend Mr. Harold White. He offered his car for them to drive to the Packard Dealership for the repair. They were informed that the repair is going to take mid-week.

Later the same day, Ladies took a trolley to Juarez, Mexico to do some shopping apparently they were in search of some expensive European perfume.

they were confronted with protests and chaos in the streets of Juarez.

Finishing their shopping the ladies came back to their hotel with the shopping bags.

They decided to do some sightseeing on the American side of the border of El Paso with Mr. White and his wife.

Inexplicably under the circumstances, they again chose to cross the border to Juarez for dinner.

Hazel reportedly visited a Fortune teller, Allie Gillespie, in El Paso looking for some answers regarding the misfortune that was happening to them.

The ladies past the day while waiting for the car by reading and listening to the radio.
Hazel goes to a hair salon. The parts finally arrive and the repair to the Packard began.

(Night)

They took a trolley back to Juarez and ate dinner at a Spanish Town Café.
Afterward they went to a nearby club.
Testimony given later reports that the two Frome women were seen chatting and sharing drinks with two men with foreign accents.
Hazel is given a large envelope with no stamps or address on it. The only marking is the word Frome scrawled on the envelope.
She was unsteady because of the cocktails she had but she made it to the elevator for their suite.

The ladies had the newly repaired Packard engine brought to the hotel around 11:00 am.

The same morning there was an assassin's bomb exploded at a government building, killing the mayor and his bodyguard in Juarez.

Finally they started their ride again and their plan was to drive 650 miles east to Dallas and arrive there after midnight.

At some point, Hazel and Nancy Frome met a horrible end along the highway between El Paso and Dallas in a barren hostile part if West Texas desert.

Two days later, two army engineers surveying land in the area reported seeing the abandoned Packard near the intersection of U.S. 80 and U.S. Highway 290.

U.S.290 is the southern branch off Route 80 (Old Spanish Trail) on the way to San Antonio.
