Salutary Neglect, 1689-1763

Salutary Neglect was American wanting to make money by illegally trading. This was one of the starts to the Revolutionary war. I give this a 2/10 because it was not a huge part of what lead up to the revolution, it was only a small internal issue in one part of the world that did not grow.

French And Indian war, 1754-1763

The French and Indians/Great Britain were both trying to expand their land but were expanding in the same direction. The British won over the land and defeated the French. I give this a 5/10 because while the British were broke and started taxing, the taxes began to increase with larger issues as time went on.

Royal Proclamation of 1763

This proclamation made it very hard for anyone to harm the natives because they were protected under this. It was lifted the night before the Revolutionary war began. I give this a 9/10 because this was a big thing to be passed and was of great importance. The protection was a great thing at the time and the Natives greatly appreciated it.

The Sugar Acts, April 1764

This was started by the French and Indians helping the British out of debt. It later lead to riots and protests breaking out because people disagreed with this act. I give this a 4/10 because the protests from this led to greater things over time but the French and Indians were just trying to help.

The Stamp Act, 1765

This Act created a tax on every paper, whether it was stamps, cards, or anything else. This led to huge revolts and attacks on those who passed it. I give this a 7/10 because the tax greatly affected many people, and the attacks/revolts that broke out were a big deal.

Sons of Liberty, May 15th 1765

These were fights for their freedom and to fight for legal documents. This formed many groups and they all fought to take liberty. I give this a 3/10 because while many groups formed it only stayed protests and it did not end up influencing the British.

Townshend Acts, June 29th 1767

These acts resulted in the stop of importing goods. It also created many boycotts and even quartering soldiers was forced at one point. I give this a 4/10 because many people suffered from no imported goods but it also was not one of the biggest things that happened during this time.

The Boston Massacre, March 15th 1770

This was a fight outbreak because of all of the tax laws being enforced. During this fight, even things like stones, ice, and snowballs were being thrown. I give this an 8/10 because the aftermath lead to greater issues and there were many propaganda that gave people the wrong idea.

The Boston Tea party, December 16th 1773

This was a protest against British taxes. 342 chests of tea were dumper overboarded into the Boston harbor. I give this a 7/10 because it created a big disruption and caused the British to put Intolerable acts into place. It did not break out in war directly after.

The intolerable Acts, 1774

This was the consequence for the Boston Tea party. This also later lead to the revolutionary war. It was a series of acts passed that created very strict laws. I give this a 9/10 because it is what happened directly before the Revolutionary war and many people did not like what was passed.
