         <description><![CDATA[<div>Children can explore that mixing some solutions can result in a chemical reaction<br>This are solutions had are found in the house and are used different ways.<br>An extension for learning could be the skittles and water experiment. Using warm water on a plate of skittles around the edge of the plate. The water reacts to the colouring and the sugar to dissolve and diffuse through the water. </div>]]></description>

The children could use a soft drink bottle which has been placed deeper in to the sand, and sand packed around it.&nbsp;<br>Camera<br>Ask the children to film it<br>Pens and paper so the children can draw and write the steps down. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mixing: What mixes together and what doesn't and why.<br>* cooking experiences - making play dough - combining the wet ingredients (water and oil) and adding to the dry ingredients, then combining all ingredients together<br>* sand and mud play/cooking/making potions in the sandpit. Use water, sand, bark, flowers, leaves, nuts. Use a mortar and pestle to crush leaves (lavender, rosemary, lemon grass, Lilly Pilly fruits/other fruits/berries and add to water/mud for sandpit cooking and play experiences. What can you smell?<br>* Make goop - cornflour and water<br>* Make a volcano in the sandpit - Bi-carb soda, vinegar and food colouring - ask children to predict (write down &amp; document predictions on what they think will happen)<br>* Other experiences using temperature - heat (cooking)/ice/evaporation<br>Purpose: to support students in developing thinking, planning, noticing, predicting and understanding skills in science concepts of biological science - mixing.</div>]]></description>

Through investigating and experimenting, children will discover along the way what materials can be mixed and what materials can’t be mixed together. The children will uncover that as they are experimenting with the resources and materials that food colouring and water combination, but if they add in vinegar or oil to that mix, it might not mix well together.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
