         <title>What is science and how does it work?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Science to me before taking this course was a very general knowledge of the topic. I knew science was apart of our everyday lives, but I didn't really know details on very many things.<br><br>My thinking about science changed once going through the bunny simulation and learning about genes and mutations. Along with that, learning about DNA really helped me to understand the genetic makeup of different species and how things are brought to fruition today.<br><br>I will continue to push myself to learn more and more about science. I will seek out new things to learn and do my very best. This class has raised so much interest within myself to learn more.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>How does the scientific method relate to scientific inquiry and how does inquiry-based learning impact student learning?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Before taking this course I knew what the scientific method was, but had never heard of scientific inquiry. So i did not know how it would be able to impact a student's learning.<br><br>Now I can tell you how the scientific method relates to scientific inquiry and how it impacts a student's learning thanks to this class. The scientific method goes hand in hand with scientific inquiry because when a teacher is asking a student questions he/she is trying to get them to elaborate and expand on their way of thinking without the teacher giving them the answers. It helps expand their understanding of the scientific method and better understand the assignment they are using it with. It has a huge impact on the student's learning and how well the student will retain the information.<br><br>I will continue with this method of teaching with my future students to help them to broaden their thinking and to test their knowledge. It is important to push the envelope, so to speak, with the expansion of knowledge.</div>]]></description>

         <title>What are the characteristics of life and what does it mean to be alive?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Before the class I probably would not really know how to answer this question. I might have replied with something about breathing, heart pumping, and blood flow.<br><br>All the videos watched, articles read, and assignments done to test my knowledge has taught me characteristics like adaptation, heredity, reproduction, and more. To be alive something must have several specific characteristics including, but not limited to, metabolism, growth and development, and the ability to adapt.<br><br>I will continue to grow in this topic by quizzing myself and striking up conversation about living things. I will not let my knowledge fade.</div>]]></description>

         <title>How do microscopic changes have macroscopic effects?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Before taking NS 100 I would have to use context clues in this question to even figure out if microscopic was larger or smaller than macroscopic. Once I realized the answer I would probably give an example of something along the lines of animals reproducing. Without animal reproduction, animals would become extinct.<br><br>Since taking NS 100 I can tell you that without the adaptation characteristic the world would be a totally different place. Living things need to know how to adapt to survive so that they do not become extinct and that their survival also depends on the food supply, predators, and weather changes. The tiniest change in food supply can wipe out a whole generation; microscopic to macroscopic.</div>]]></description>

         <title>How has my scientific perspective changed since the beginning of the semester?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I would say my scientific perspective has changed a lot since the beginning of the semester. Coming into this semester I honestly was not even thinking about science. I had always enjoyed and remembered the experiments I did when I was a student, but I never saw myself ever wanting to teach it. Now I am at the halfway point in the class and I'm finding myself more and more curious and interested in possibly becoming a science teacher for the older elementary grades. I believe if a teacher can make science fun for elementary students then we could end up with more scientists and engineers and I believe that teacher could be me. I will continue exploring all things science and furthering my education in case I decide to go that route, but if not then I will know a lot of cool facts!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My experiences with NS 100 help me when I am in an elementary science classroom because I feel it has better equipped me to further the knowledge of the students. I have learned so much information already, but I have also learned about the questions to ask to advance a students learning capability. I am better equipped with how to encourage them to move forward in science. I feel like I know more of what I am talking about.</div>]]></description>
