The purpose of this research is to study learning from YouTube as a student learning medium.

In the era of globalization, the use of the internet is growing very drastically.  This is shown by the use of gadgets among students who are always connected to the internet.  Students like to find information in real or audiovisual form.  The presence of YouTube also provides extraordinary results for the current generation.  This is the basis for learning how to use YouTube as a learning medium among students.
  3. Problems are important for research because from these problems researchers will be able to make what strategies should be used in solving research problems
  4. Namely by describing the research topic, by providing information on what kind of problems students often face related to the research topic.

Development has also become very rapid because after the internet can be accessed on cellular telephones or smartphones that can be used anytime and anywhere that is connected to the internet. With smartphones, more media can be accessed, such as Youtube, Instagram, Google, Telegram, Facebook and many others.

According to Nasrullah (2015) social media is a medium on the internet that allows users to represent themselves and interact, work together, share, communicate with other users to form social bonds virtually. Of course, not only for communicating or exchanging news or as a medium for entertainment, but these applications can be accessed as learning media that can be used practically, which is definitely connected to the internet. One of them is learning English. Because the times are getting more advanced and the development of technology is growing rapidly Learning to speak English does not need to pay a lot of money and also have to go with a private teacher or others, now there are many online media that can be used continuously which are connected to the internet and some can be used offline maybe by downloading.

Some of the problems that are often encountered in teaching and learning in speaking English: 1) Many students are still afraid to speak English in front of their friends. 2) A number of students still have a lot of questions about grammar when speaking because of course when speaking they have to arrange vocabulary so they don't make mistakes. 3) Many students are afraid to express their opinions verbally. 4) Students need a long time to compose a sentence. 5) Some students are not sure what they are saying. Of course all of that can be trained to proficient. Students also show other problems that are obtained than students' personal information, namely lack of self-confidence, fear of making mistakes, embarrassment of others, nervousness, staying in English, never practicing, and there is nothing to say (Sayuri, 2016) .

One application that is very well known throughout the world, namely YouTube. Youtube is an online platform that is very appropriate as a learning medium in improving speaking English. There have been provided several media that can be accessed such as videos with English sound and complete with translations or English songs that can be listened to every day. Students only need to practice and practice it. Of course, if you have practiced a lot, all the problems faced by students will gradually be solved. Speaking is one of four language skills in which for many students learning to speak fluently in English is a priority. This is because they use speaking skills to keep up rapport in relationships, influence people, and win or lose negotiations as parts of communication (Breene, 2012).

The author's goal in making this journal is to increase the awareness of students or the public to make better use of social media, especially YouTube as a learning medium to improve speaking skills in English which can be used online anywhere and anytime.
