Topic B
family members and friends were encouraging me and giving me encouragement for prelim examinations coming up. Parents paid a lot of money for extra tuition lessons just for me to do well. but I did not do well for the prelim examinations in the end. Everyone was really upset that I did not do well and that feeling made me take a major setback. After awhile, I decided to study and work even harder for the next examination that was even more important, which was PSLE. After months of stress and hard work, I managed to improve from me Prelim examinations by 20 marks, and I won the most improved grades award for the year. I managed to make my parents and friends proud and also managed to get into the secondary school that I wanted to get into.

But I did not listen carefully and brought the wrong things the morning that I had been told to bring the materials, and we couldn't do what we planned to.

Topic B:
It was the day of the relay race, all competitors lined up to get into their positions. I was feeling confident we would win, we have practiced for this practically all our lives. But during the race, we came in fourth, meaning we lost and wouldn't even get a medal. I got mad and broke into an argument with me opponent saying it wasn't fair and blamed my other team mates for running too slow at the start. Later, I realised that it wasn't my team's fault, everyone had tried their best and I shouldn't have blamed them. So I went back and apologised to my team and together we work hard for the next competition.

Everyone was either typing away on their laptop or jotting down notes on their worksheet while I was dozing off. Feeling the need to hydrate myself, I dragged my feet towards the kitchen to grab a cup of green tea. Since I was fatigue, I tripped over my own feet and fell forawrd, my green tea splashing towards the table like a waterfall, making the research papers wet. Everyone started throwing agitated remarks at me and I felt very guilty. To make up for my mistakes, I stayed up all night rewriting our research papers.

This made me think i that i am good enought and thus, during that whole week, all my teammates were practising assiduously except for me. During the competition, my brain suddenly go blank and in the end, you had guess it, we lost. I felt disappointed knowing all the failure were cause by me. From that mistake, i had learnt that we should not be too confident, continue practise even if you are good. So for the next competition, i had learnt from my mistake and practise hard for the competition and finally, our team had won the competition.

Our first few moves were perfect, immaculate, in sync until one of our members screwed up the remaining choreography. We knew we will embarrassed ourself if we continue to perform so we stop performing and went backstage with disappointed looks on our faces. At backstage I immediately told her off and blamed that member of ours saying it’s all her fault. My instructor and the other members threw a disappointed and upset look at me. I knew I had done something wrong, I reflected that I shouldn’t have say all those to her. Instead, I should have encourage her. Later I went to apologise to her sincerely.

Therefore there was no time for the family to have a proper meal together. This time we finally got the chance to have a meal together. grandpa used to run the business dad is running now. He gave it to dad as his birthday present a few years ago. The company is running very well now. Now that grandpa has passed away, hidden jealousy rises. My uncle, dad’s brother was always jealous of dad, he wondered why dad got the company and not him. He decides to frame dad in a scandal so that dad could step down and voluntarily give the company to him, since he was immediate family. That was the reason for getting together for that dinner, to brainstorm ideas on how to fix the problem. Obviously, uncle was no help. We eventually found out that uncle was the one who framed dad. We brought this up to court and uncle was sentenced to jail, for defamation.

Topic B: mistake that upset
My parents had to work overtime in the office so they made me pick my younger sister up from day care for that day. After I finished my homework, I turned on my computer and started playing games. As time passed by, I started getting engrossed with my game until I lost track of time. A few hours later, the game finished. I stretched and looked up at the clock. It was seven thirty in the evening. Suddenly, realisation hit me and i realised that I was one and a half hours late to picking up my sister. I panicked and quickly ran out of my house to the day care, even thought i already knew that it was too late. By the time i reached the day care, i was completely out of breathe. To my dismay, the doors were all closed and the place was deserted. Fear rised inside me as I contemplated on who could have taken my sister. With a heavy heart, I trudged back home. When i reached home, i saw light coming out through the windows and wondered if my parents were home. I peaked through the door and saw two figures sitting at the dining table. I slowly walked into the house, wondering how i would explain everything to them. My parents saw me and immediately started scolding me for my irresponsibility. I realised that the daycare had called my parents when no one showed up to pick up my sister. My parents then had to rush down from work to pick her up instead. I felt very guilty and apologised profusely and promised to be more responsible in the future

I was up late last night, being an absolute wasteman last night catching up on an American sitcom, refusing to finish up preparing my presentation I was assigned to give my colleagues. Thinking back, I felt somewhat inactive. And this morning, on the way to my work desk, it suddenly dawned to me that I had forgotten to complete the presentation. For a second, I froze, feet adhered tightly to the ground. I knew I had screwed it up. I contemplated my options. Without internalizing it, I made a beeline to my manager's desk. Unsurprising, he was around. I thoroughly explained and sincerely apologized for my ways. He grinned at me, before bursting out in loud, audible, and uncontrollable laughs. "It isn't due today, silly! It's due next week!" He proclaimed. My heart rate returned to normal.

I had prepared my whole life just for this day and I was not going to waste it. Looking at the opposite team, our chances of victory was inevitable. For the first set, we were dominating them. Their spikes were weak and their communication was off. It was a guaranteed win. I was grinning to myself and started to make fun of them, even teasing them. During the break, everyone on my team were giggling to each other about the unique names I had given the opposing team. However, rumours always travel fast and of course, the opponents heard it. In the end, they were so disheartened that they decided to forfeit the second set. Seeing how badly my actions could hurt other people, I regretted all the name-calling and went up to their team to confess my mistake and profusely apologised to them.

More cheering followed as we started digging into the delicious food that our helper specially made for Robie's birthday. Little did we know it was more 'special' than we thought. I ignored most of the dishes laid out on the table but there was one that caught my eye: the sausage pasta skillet. My bowl was willed to the brim of it but a minute later, it was wiped clean.

Topic A: It was on the day of Chinese New Year’s Eve. My family was going to have a family reunion dinner. So, my father went to the nearby supermarket to buy the ingredients for the meal. When he got back with all the groceries, my mother started preparing and cooking the dishes. However, when she was about to prepare the soup, she realised that the pork bone stock was missing. Apparently, my father had forgotten to buy it. Hence, my mother was angry. It was also too late to buy the stock from the supermarket as some of the dishes were already prepared. But my mother still prepared the soup. When we were having the soup, the soup was indeed bland and tasteless. However, my father said that the soup was perfect. Its because my mother still cooked the soup with love. And the point of a reunion dinner is to reaffirm our love and ensure the solidarity of my family, and I believed that that was true and will forever be.

Topic B: So there was once during a Sunday morning, I was doing a project with my Primary school friends, but on that day, I needed to go to the hospital as someone was ill. Feeling frustrated against my mother's constant nagging, I soon could not take it and yelled at her that I was busy and needed to concentrate. Yes, before this she knew that I had a project but she also could not stand me taking up some of my time to visit someone ill. Soon, I saw a hand flying towards my face. Bap! Soon, a war between me started with me and my mother, each hurling vulgarities at each other. The loud screaming and cussing then made the family upset. I just knew I had to end the "war." This was when I apologised to my mother and gently told her that I would really like to go but was too busy. This resolved everything and made everyone calm down, especially my mother who then clearly know why I could not go.

Topic B.
There was a music competition. We had to compete in groups of 5 so I asked friends to come and participate with me. We had assigned roles on who plays which instrument, I was incharge of the piano to play the base. I practiced a lot for a few weeks. A week before the competition, my cousin informed me that the second part of a game I really enjoyed had just came out so I decided to download it and play it. I was so engrossed into the game that I ad totally forgot about the competition. I did not take care of myself and ended up with a terrible fever. The worst part is, I had gotten this fever on the day of the competition. I had told my group I could not perform and they were so angry with I thought they were going to explode. They scolded me for not taking care of myself and being too addicted to games. They had to pull our group out of the competition at the last minute. Although they forgave me a week later, I still feel very guilty for what I had done. I learnt to not be selfish and think about others next time.

I saw that my friend had spelt a word wrongly and that the teacher had not spotted it. I told my friend about it and he said that it was correct and that it was just another way of spelling it. Shortly after, we got into an argument over which spelling was correct. In an outburst of rage, I called him stupid, which led him to tell the teacher about the matter. The teacher told me to go to him and explain the situation to him. After we explained the situation to the teacher, he told us that both ways of spelling was correct and that I was wrong about my friend's spelling being wrong. After I found out that I was wrong, I apologized to my friend and bought him a bottle of water to show I was very sorry about starting an argument over something I was wrong about.

While my parents received the notification on close contact with a person who had COVID-19 at the restaurant.

A few years back, my friends and I decided to go to the library to read a few
books. It was the school holiday, and we wanted to maximise the amount of fun that we could possibly have. The library was quite near our homes, and we were all over the moon as we were able to see our friends even over the school holidays. We chose a comfy location to start reading and after finding beanbag chairs, we settled right in and started flipping the pages. However, after about twenty minutes of reading, I spotted a spider on the ground. I did not expect a spider to be in an environment like the library, so I yelled out. Long story short, the librarian kicked us out and my friends were extremely mad at me. Fortunately, we were in Orchard and there was more than one library. After finding another one, we happily read and borrowed and had a great day.

Soon enough, our father told us that he actually had cancer and he was only left a few days to live and his last wish before he died was for us to talk like that in the family table instead of staring at our phones all day.

Topic B:
It was the day of one of my friends favourite concerts and she decided to bring me along. She gave me the tickets to hold on to and keep safe but on the day of the concert I had forgot to bring them and we did not get to see it. I gave her a "I am sorry" card and every day since, tried to get another pair of tickets. A month later, I got tickets that worked for our schedule. I made another "I am sorry card", this time with the tickets and gave it to her. We finally went to watch the concert.

Topic A
It was Christmas and all my relatives and friends came over for a family meal. Things were all going smoothly until my parents and relatives decided to go out for awhile leaving the kids at home with me babysitting them while cooking dinner. However, in the midst of cooking, I heard a loud bang and realised that my younger brother did not listen to my instructions and went to jump on the bed which resulted in him falling down and hitting his head. His head bled and I rushed him to the hospital immediately while informing my parents what had happened and hoped that he was going to be fine.

Topic B: It was the finals of the inter-schools football tournament. My team and I were warming up and getting ready for the match that was 5 minutes away from starting. At that moment, my heart was beating extremely fast as i was feeling nervous. When my team and I stepped onto the football field, I could hear my friends sitting in the spectator seats cheering for us. It was at that very moment that i got goosebumps and felt the pressure of having to win to not let my friends down. The match started and we passed the ball smoothly towards each other. I ran forward as soon as I saw my teammate having the space to pass to me and i could get a chance to score. However, being the one on the team who wouldnt want to score without humiliating the opponent first, I attempted a skill to trick the goalkeeper. To my surprise, the goalkeeper did not get tricked and managed to tackle me. My teammates saw what had happenes and were dissappointed in me. For the rest of the match, since our morale was low after my mistake, we could not get a shot in and lost the finals. After the match, i had a talk with my teammates and apologised for my selfishness. They forgived me and we agreed that we would win the tournament next year.
