Dutch is the word for people from Netherlands, which is small country in west Europe. he had two brothers and three sisters. He was closest to his youngest brother Theo.  when we was a young man he traveled - France, England, Belgium, but near the end of his life he moved to France. When he moved to France he started to use brighter colors. later he moved to south of France where sunlight was very strong and bright. The beauty and color of place he lived inspired him to paint it.  His art became brighter and full of emotions.  He loved sunflowers. He enjoyed painting the flowers by placing them in a vase and painting what he saw. His work is very famous now, but when he was alive most people did not want his paintings. he liked to draw pictures of poor hardworking people, his on of the earliest painting was called the Potato Eaters, picture if peasant family eating potatoes for dinner.
