Transition of Youth and Young Adults with Intellectual Disabilities (TrYAD) is a multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to helping teens and young adults with mild to severe intellectual disabilities transition to adulthood. TrYAD promotes self-management, advocacy, and continuity of care through a graduated transition process which involves:

• Education of patients, families, and their health care providers

• Coordination of ancillary services

• Liaison with community resources

Our triad model of care concentrates on the whole person, including transitions from:

• School to work: education and vocational training

• Home to community: community living, adult and social relationships

• Pediatric care to adult care

The TrYAD Clinic provides specialty care. The goal of TrYAD is to work with the primary care physician(s) during this time of transition, not to replace them. We are also available for one-time consultations for families and physicians who need some assistance or would like further education about this process.

Since 1977, the Residential Information Systems Project (RISP) has gathered, maintained, and analyzed longitudinal data on Medicaid funded long-term supports and services (LTSS) for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Specifically, the RISP team:

• Gathers and maintains annual statistics and longitudinal trend data on Medicaid, state, and locally funded residential and in-home support.

• Conducts an annual survey of public residential facilities (PRF) describing status of the facility and the characteristics of people living there.

• Conducts literature reviews, case studies, state level policy studies, and secondary analyses of existing data sets to answer key policy and program questions about residential and community supports.

• Provides ongoing assistance to individuals, government agencies, public and private organizations, media outlets and others on residential and community supports for people with IDD.

• Publishes annual reports and monthly updates on the status and trends in residential and community living supports.

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) offers vocational rehabilitation services to help Ohioans with developmental disabilities who want to find or keep a job in the community. 

OOD counselors work with local County Boards of Developmental Disabilities to help Ohioans find community employment.

Family Support Services is designed to keep families together. All people with developmental disabilities have the right to live in a stable home; building relationships with parents, siblings, and friends as they enrich each other’s lives.

Children and adults with developmental disabilities have the best opportunity to grow and develop within a loving family environment. With the help of Family Support Services, families can purchase necessary equipment and services thus easing some heavy expenses while increasing the self-sufficiency of a family member with disabilities.

SNAP recipients have been victims of fraud schemes, such as skimming, to steal EBT card numbers. Skimming is when a fraudulent device is placed over a point-of-sale card reader to steal payment card information. When a recipient swipes their card over a compromised device, they are unsuspectingly sharing their card information with criminals.

The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) partnered with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower organization.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower indicates to anyone approaching – especially those in customer service roles – a person wearing one of these items may need more assistance and that patience is appreciated. There is no qualifying list of disabilities.
