To begin with my Senior Summit I started to take guitar lessons on September 19, 2019. From the time then to the time now I have learned 10 chords and many strumming and picking techniques. In December of 2019, that is when I really started to pick up the instrument. During December I had learned four chords that were commonly known throughout the songs that I was playing. Once my teacher saw that I could play well and with a click, which is the beat of the song, she scheduled me to play live infront of people. Next I plan to learn even more chords so that I will be able to play any song that I choose and that I find ways to move around certain chords that are hard to play. The biggest issue I have had so far is placing my fingers on certain strings especially for chords that have more than four strings with it. I have not gotten down some chords but I am still practicing on getting them down. I definitely think that because I have music background, this certain project is not as hard but it for sure teaches more hand placement than piano.

Well it has been a while since I wrote my last blog but as of right now I have been taking lessons for more than 25 hours. That includes all my lessons and on stage performances.
Recently I've been struggling with getting down my Bm and F chords. Both of those chords require, to me, crazy finger strength. But nevertheless, I have been working hard at getting those two down.
Also, I have been working on the Nashville Numbering System. Which is just a way to keep track of keys and minors. Basically just the ability to transpose keys.
I've had a hard time figuring out guitar because of this whole corona virus thing but I am still very much practicing guitar.

Throughout this whole learning process with the guitar, I learned that perseverance and practice is key to learning the guitar. The virus has made it hard for me to take lessons and perform what I've learned but I am still able to practice at home.
I have learned that the reason many give up learning and instrument is because they don't have the perseverance to keep at it. The guitar is not the easiest instrument to learn but I'm keeping at it because it challenges me.
Right now I am still working on my B minor and F chord because my fingers are small and not very strong but I am still working at getting it down. I will keep at guitar and I have decided to further my education of guitar through college so this was a really exciting and life changing experiment and experience.
I would recommend learning the guitar to anyone. It is really fun to mess around with chords. I'm so glad that I learned the guitar.
GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!

Cases are EXPENSIVE

One of my very good friends gave me this hard guitar case because let me tell you, hard cases are very expensive. It is kind of old but it works very well. One thing that I have always wanted to do is to decorate my guitar case and as you can see I am putting stickers on it and I will not stop until it is covered.

CAPO and MY FAVORITE PICK

A CAPO is helpful to have especially if I am playing in a different key. This pick is my favorite because it has good grip and it also allows my guitar strings to hold and it gives off a pretty sound to the acoustic.
