Image Resolution - The detail an image holds; this term applies to digital images, film images, and other types of images 

Megabyte - A unit of measurement used to describe to size of a digital file 

Mega pixel - One million pixels 

Gigabyte -  A unit of data storage capacity that is roughly equivalent to 1 billion bytes  

Jpeg - A format for compressing image files

Raw - And unprocessed photograph captured with a digital camera

Png - Portable Network Graphics; is a file format for image compression that, in time, is expected to replace the Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) that is widely used on today's Internet.  

White Balance - The process of removing unrealistic color casts, so that objects which appear white in person are rendered white in your photo 

Histogram - A graphical representation of the tonal values of the image 

Aperture - Controls the brightness of the image that passes through the lens; known as the “pupil” of the lens 

Shutter Speed -  Allows light to pass for a determined period, exposing photographic film or a photosensitive digital sensor to light in order to capture a permanent image of a scene

Depth of Field -  the zone of acceptable sharpness within a photo that will appear in focus

Aperture Priority - Abbreviated as A or AV FOR APERTURE VALUE,  a setting on some cameras that allows the user to set a specific aperture value (f-number) while the camera selects a shutter speed to match it that will result in proper exposure

Shutter Priority - denoted as S or Tv; refers to a setting on some cameras that allows the user to choose a specific shutter speed while the camera adjusts the aperture to ensure correct exposure.

Bitmap - defines a display space and the color for each pixel or "bit" in the display space

Exposure - determines how light or dark an image will appear when it's been captured 

Watermarking - a more or less transparent image or text that has been applied to a piece of paper, another image to either protect the original image, or to make it harder to copy the item 

Optical Zoom - A true zoom lens; allows you to zoom in (or out) on the subject in the LCD or viewfinder.

Digital Zoom -  a method of decreasing the apparent angle of view of a digital photographic or video image.

Bracketing -  general technique of taking several shots of the same subject using different camera settings

Light Meter -  a device used to measure the amount of light 

Image Stabilization - techniques that reduce blurring associated with the motion of a camera or other imaging device during exposure

Noise - A random variation of brightness or color information in images, and is usually an aspect of electronic noise.

Lag Time - The delay between triggering the shutter and when the photograph is actually recorded.

Hot Shoe - A mounting point on the top of a camera to attach a flash unit and other compatible accessories 

Fisheye - An ultra wide-angle lens that produces strong visual distortion intended to create a wide panoramic or hemispherical image.

Macro - Is about photographing objects that are very close to the lens, the film or the sensor. 

Telephoto - Is a specific type of a long-focus lens in which the physical length of the lens is shorter than the focal length.

Wide Angle - Having a short focal length and a hence a field covering a wide angle 

DSLR - (Digital Single Lens Reflex) a digital still image camera that uses a single lens reflex mechanism

Dynamic Range - A measure of the range of light intensities from the shadows to the highlights 

Exposure Compensation - Is a technique for adjusting the exposure indicated by a photographic exposure meter 

2) Tungsten setting : This setting is symbolized as a light bulb on a camera. This setting is used for indoor shooting and cools down the temperature within a photo. 

3) Fluorescent setting : Has a ‘cool’ light of fluorescent light and will warm up photos.

4) Daylight/Sunny setting : This is rarely found on all cameras due, to this setting 

being known as ‘normal’ while shooting. 

5) Cloudy setting : This setting warms up a photo a bit more than ‘daylight’ mode.

6) Flash setting : The use of a flash on a camera gives off a cool light. While in Flash WB Mode, the flash setting will now warm up the subjects appearance. 

7) Shade setting : This setting generally gives off more of a cooler temperature, than shooting in direct sunlight. This mode can warm things up on a small-scale.
