At a small suburban high school, three students who had all failed Physics 101 the year before found themselves retaking the exam together. None of them were particularly interested in physics. For some, the formulas and concepts felt like an insurmountable obstacle; for others, the subject just didn’t seem to matter. The retake was their last shot, but the stress was unbearable. After the exam, they ended up on the bleachers, venting about their frustrations.

It wasn’t long before someone started humming a melody. Another began tapping on the bleacher seat, and soon, the three of them were jamming together—totally distracted from their failed test. In that moment, they discovered something they had in common: a shared love of music. It was raw, unplanned, and incredibly freeing.

A few weeks later, they officially formed a band—Flux. The name reflected the chaotic, unpredictable nature of their high school lives and their experience in physics. Their music was messy, energetic, and unpolished, much like the way they felt about the world. They began meeting after school, playing together in basements, garages, and anywhere they could find space.

The band quickly became a symbol of defiance against the expectations placed on them. They were the outsiders, the ones who had failed and still found a way to keep going. Flux wasn’t about perfection or passing tests—it was about embracing the uncertainty and imperfection of life and making something beautiful out of it.

Down Beats formed when longtime friends Kritya and Milán, active in their city’s underground music scene, teamed up with talented session musicians Adi and Dorian on a studio project. What started as a one-off collaboration quickly sparked something deeper. Their musical chemistry was undeniable—Kritya brought sharp lyrics, Milán laid down rich bass and production, Adi delivered soulful vocals, and Dorian’s drumming tied it all together.

United by a shared love for rhythm-heavy, emotionally raw music, they officially became Down Beats. Their sound blends hip hop, R&B, and experimental grooves, grounded in real stories and late-night studio sessions. From different paths, they became a band—and more importantly, a creative family.
