With winds of up to 175 mph. Hurricane Maria caused over $90 million in damages. It was the 3rd most costliest hurricane in US history. Although the official death poll was 64, it is estimated that over 1000 people passed away. By September 16 it was named Maria but was still a tropical storm, until the day after, September 17, when it was officially named a Hurricane. The hurricane left Puerto Rico with damaged, homes, roads, and bridges. There was no electricity in the island and most of its cell phone and internet connections were damaged.
