I actually have this in mind, like Mulan is a daughter to a Bendahara maybe, and her father is indebted to the Sultan. In return of his debt, the Sultan wants Mulan's hand in marriage instead! But she refused, strongly rejecting the idea. Furious and in spite, the Sultan then sent out an order that her Father is to join the army, despite knowing that he is severely ill. He was basically sending him to his death! But Mulan intervened and took her father's place, disguising as a man and going in his stead! She's going to strive in the army and save the nation (maybe we can put Melaka?) BUT that's not the end yet 😏 I was thinking, what if we make it a sad ending? Instead of being rewarded for her heroic acts, they were punished instead! Like imagine, when Mulan saved Melaka, the identity was exposed, and the Sultan (who holds grudge against her father) accused her 'disguise' as an act of treason, and her family was to be punished. They were stripped of their title, and her father was executed. And instead of being called out to war by the system, in our plans, we made it because of the Sultan's fury and grudge towards the Bendahara. So, Tun Teja intervened. This is where we decided to resume the original plot. Tun Teja, just like Mulan, went in her father's stead, disguised as a man, and joined the Melaka hulubalangs. And just like Mulan, she encountered conflicts as well as a love interest in the form of Hang Nadim, who eventually would helped her in saving Melaka from the threats of Siam. The ending though, instead of being rewarded, the vengeful Sultan accused her infiltration into the army as a form of treason, and had her family stripped of their title. Her father was then executed. The settings would be between 1488-1511 ( the reign of Sultan Mahmud) and the place is Pahang and Melaka. The POV is both third person and Tun Teja herself.
