Second-hand smoke is more likely to interfere with fetal growth and give birth to low-weight children. Cigarettes have a high proportion of the collected marine waste. Cigarette cigarette butts contain 50 kinds of carcinogens, which are fatal to aquatic life. It takes more than 10 years for cigarette butts to decompose naturally. Cigarettes have threatened rivers and marine ecosystems, and marine life is in danger of being used for human food.
The solution is to collect cigarette butts directly and develop eco-friendly filter materials. Smoking areas must be designated in residential areas, condominiums, and other environments. Regulations must be made to prohibit smoking in public facilities and indoor areas.
