In her junior year, she completed a six-month English literature program at the University of London. Upon earning her degree, Hampton Luzak began working for the New York-based advertising firm BBDO, where she served on the award-winning team that put together commercials for Pepsi and Visa's "It's everywhere you want to be" slogan. Hampton Luzak later pursued a marketing position at the fashion firm Carlisle, where she trained junior sales employees and managed private trunk shows throughout the United States. The experience she gained in the fashion industry led to her becoming an on-air correspondent for MSNBC, where she produced her own segments on fashion and lifestyle topics. Subsequently, the contacts she gained through her role with MSNBC led to an opportunity as a casting director with Denise Fitzgerald Casting. Mrs. Luzak's most recent job involved the restoration of historical houses in the northeastern United States and South Carolina, for which she encompasses her education in American history and previous experience in design. Edible Schoolyard NYC transforms lives through food. It helps students in New York learn about growing and eating healthy food by incorporating gardening and cooking classes into their school day. It operates programs that expose children to new wholesome foods, encouraging them to eat healthy at home, and getting them involved in the preparation of their own vibrant food. 

Edible Schoolyard operates two flagship demonstration schools in New York City. These schools include full gardens and industrial kitchens. Students attend kitchen class just like their classes in traditional subjects like science or math. 

These demonstration schools are also open to the public to help community members reap the benefits of healthy food. Hampton Luzak maintains membership in The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America (NSCDA), which was established in 1891 and boasts 15,000 members nationwide.

NSCDA has a primary focus of engaging in historic site restoration, preservation, and interpretation. This began with the preservation of the Van Cortlandt House in New York in 1897. The oldest home remaining in the Bronx, the Georgian-style mansion was constructed for Frederick Van Cortlandt, who maintained a successful wheat plantation in the mid-18th century.

Now a museum, the property was acquired by the City of New York in 1887. Upon its inception, NSCDA took on a pioneering role as a private organization by taking the publicly-owned building under its stewardship. The Society paid the city a "peppercorn rent" of $1 annually and restored the structure in meticulous detail. Mariska Hargitay came to understand the widespread nature of sexual assault and abuse through her role as Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

In addition to promoting healing, the Joyful Heart Foundation advocates for a cultural transformation. As part of this endeavor, it participates in the NO MORE movement, established in 2013 to end domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault.

Through partnerships with numerous agencies and organizations, NO MORE offers society a call to action.
