Math

As of Term 1.2, we are learning how to calculate reverse percentages and algebraic fractions. As of Term 1.1, we learnt how to calculate significant figures, factorise algebraic fractions and solve density, mass and volume equations. In my math lessons, I believe that I work well, even including some teacher praises. However, I always believe that there is more room for improvement. In my Term 1 assessment, I achieved an average score of 45/55, which can be highly improved. Home learning is usually set on sparx maths, which has been going well, and I have evidence above. My current grade as of Year 8 Term 1 is a Mastery.

English

As of Term 1.1, we have been learning about Greek mythology and how to compose our own myth. I feel like I have made significant progress since Year 7. I feel very confident during my English lessons, always completing the set work to the fullest. We haven't had much home learning in English this year, except for finishing school assignments. My current grade is a Mastery, and I want to improve by maintaining that score.

Science

In our Science lessons, we have been learning about combustion, natural selection, reactions and chromosomes to name a few. I have made great progress since Year 7, maintaining my knowledge and getting a 41/47 on my assessment, which is great but can be improved. I feel confident in my lessons as the work set is not difficult, and my book is very neat, with teacher praises too. Home learning has been going well, and our teacher assigns weekly homework tasks. In addition, we have been doing educake quizzes every 2 weeks to test our knowledge. My current grade is a Mastery.

History

In our History classes, we are learning about Asian Empires, India in WW1 and the sepoy rebellion. I haven't made much progress since Year 7 as we still didn't have our assessments, so I don't know what level I am at. However, I feel very confident during my lessons, always achieving great scores on mini tests like a 9/10 and 4/4. We haven't had any home learning in the past term during our History lessons. My current grade is a Secure+, and I can revise past topics to strive for a Mastery.

Geography

In our Geography lessons, we have been studying about rainforests, the ecosystems and how human activity is harming our forests. Our teacher assigns weekly homework tasks to do, and so far I have completed all of them. I feel greatly confident in my lessons, as I have achieved a 9/11 on my Geography test (Mastery). My current grade is also a Secure+, and to improve I can complete quizzes about a few topics I learned.

Computer Science

In our Computer Science lessons, we have been taught about spreadsheets and the global SDG's. I have made some progress since Year 7, changing my grade from a Developing to a Secure, which can definitely be significantly improved! I feel a bit confident with my lessons, but I need to recap on spreadsheets as they are quite challenging for me. Our only home learning this year was to complete any missing tasks. My current grade is a Secure, which can be pushed to Mastery by completing the stretch tasks and any unfinished tasks.

PE

In our PE classes, we have been learning about athletics (baton, javelin and discus to name a few) and basketball. I haven't made much progress since Year 7, but now I know how to use a javelin properly. I feel a bit confident during my classes. We don't have any home learning in PE. My current grade for PE is a D for hand, S for heart and D for head, which can be improved by pushing further in my lessons.

EGC (also known as RWS)

In our EGC lessons, we have learnt about how to prepare a solid debate, to debate with each other and problems in the world. I feel like I have made much progress in my learning since Year 7, as the work assigned is easy for me and I can build on my knowledge from Year 7. I feel confident in this lesson. We don't have any home learning, all we do is finish tasks that aren't complete. There is no grade for EGC.

Arabic

In our Arabic lessons, we have been learning about different jobs. I haven't made any progress since Year 7, as I have the same standard since last year. I feel a bit confident during my Arabic lessons, I know many different jobs and what they do. Our teacher assigns us a homework task on Microsoft Teams every month. There is no grade for Arabic.

MSC

We have been learning about the Chinese Dynasty and the Big Green Legacy in our MSC lessons. I have made a lot of progress since Year 7, creating great presentations with many graphics. I feel confident in my lessons. We don't have any home learning in MSC, and there is no grade for it.

Spanish

In our Spanish classes, we have learnt about traveling, my phone and different music types. I have made lots of progress since Year 7, achieving full marks in all my Spanish tests except reading (23/24). I feel very confident in my lessons as my knowledge of all the topics has been built from Year 7 and I can now understand more information about the topic. We haven't had any home learning in Spanish. My current grade in this lesson is a Mastery.

EEE

Swimming

Every Saturday, I go swimming, and I'm in the gold rank. I have been doing this sport since I was 5 or 6. I have done 2 competitions in my swimming "career" and have won a bronze and silver medal. I completed another competition in late May and won no medals.

Drawing

Art

In Art, we have been learning about surrealism and how to make our own surrealistic pieces. I have made more progress since Year 7, applying and learning new techniques to use. I feel confident in my lessons. Our home learning in our lessons are to complete any unfinished artworks. My current grade is a Secure, and I can use a variety of different methods and tools to enhance my work.

Punctuality

I have very good punctuality skills in school, never being late to a single tutor time. However, I have been late twice to my art class

Wellbeing

In my free time, I usually draw, design houses on a modeling app, and I do gaming to relax and improve my wellbeing. I do these activities as it helps calm me down and help relieve my nerves. In addition, to further help my wellbeing, I visit the counselor every week to discuss my mental health and improving wellbeing.

Middle School Award

So far, I have completed the reading component in my Middle School Award. In my reading component, I have added my NGRT score and my average stanine. It has challenged me by making me think of ways to improve my critical thinking, self agency and leadership. In addition, it provides me with tasks that I need to complete in order to extend my Middle School Award progress. Out of the 3 WIS way values, I think I have mostly demonstrated integrity, as I have been honest with my answers. Finally, I am most excited about submitting evidence for the Performance component, as I have performed exceptionally well in my studies and grades.

This reflection will be completed after the conference.

In addition, I also enjoy editing online on an app named CapCut. I usually edit games and scenery, adding fun and interesting visual effects and music to make my videos better.

Reading

In my reading progress this year, I have achieved a NGRT SAS score of 127, and a reading age of 17+. My targets that I have set are to try and read more and maintain my scores. Some new words I have learnt are ubiquitous - found everywhere - and omnipresent - constantly encountered. Right now, I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I love reading this book as I enjoy the suspenseful plots and turns.
