There are many things to do in Australia. One can go scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef which is famous for being the world's largest reef. Or you can visit the outback to tour the untamed wilderness. After all that has finished going to the Sydney Opera house or having drinks at one of the many pubs are good options.

Over grazing and poor farming practices have lead to soil erosion. The Great Barrier Reef's existence is threatened due to the increased shipping in the area and because of its popularity of a tourist site.

I believe due to the solitary location of Australia, it is defined as its own region. As for being a node, Australia doesn't classify as one because it does not have a "center of interest" that spreads out and slowly diminishes. Most people consider Australia as a lone island, which it is. Also they usually divide the areas into the Outback and the colonized areas of the east coast, but there are also five smaller regions inside of Australia that most people are not aware of.

Australia has to interact with many different countries to get what it needs. There is a lot of spatial interaction inside of the country itself but also some with neighboring countries. Because of the isolated location of Australia, distance decay and friction of distance become evident. We do not see goods produced in Australia often due to the fact it costs so much to ship here while they could be selling it to closer countries for a greater profit. Even though it is very far away from any other country, space-time compression is reason why we still hear about it and know the happenings going inside it. This is because of all the present day technology keeps us together even though we are thousands of miles apart.

The heart of Australia is located at 25°S and 135°N. It is in the south eastern hemisphere of the Earth and is completely an island country. There are vast amounts of ocean around it before getting to another country. The site of Australia includes a large and dry area famously known as “The Outback” and along the East Coast there are many cities.
