The 2004-2008 eruption ended, a 4 year eruption. As a result, a new 125 million cubic year lava dome was built.

This eruption left a horseshoe-shaped crater and barren wasteland. Fifty-seven lives were lost following the eruption, yet 540 million tons of ash covered the pacific northwest. More than 200 homes were destroyed, 185 miles of road and 25 miles of railways were severely damaged.
