John Locke was born in 1632 in Wrington, a small village in southwestern England. One of his earliest works, the Essays on the Law of Nature, was made in the course of his teaching duties. A lot of his effort and energy during his time at Oxford, was thanks to the study of medicine and natural philosophy. In his later years he paid most of his attention to theology. He is recognized a lot as the founder of British Empiricism and it´s true that he did the foundation for much of English-language philosophy in the 18th and early 19th centuries.

https://iep.utm.edu/locke/
