The seeds with no light grew white roots when they sprouted, but the leaves of the seeds were green. The seeds under the intense light did not grow because we only added one milliliter of water and all of it was absorbed by the light over night. Based on our experiment, water was a main environmental factor that determined the growth of our seeds. Since the seeds under intense light did not sprout, we are unable to determine if light intensity affects the phenotype of the seed.  Our experiment consisted of two petri dishes with 100 tobacco seeds in each. The petri dish in the drawer sprouted white stems with green leaves.
