Further research could be carried out on how different factors affect the likelihood of University students to exercise. It would be interesting to research physical activity habits in different countries/cultures to determine patterns and to make the research more universal. Additionally, research into the most effective incentives to exercise would be interesting and relevant.

During periods where I go to the gym regularly i.e. 3-4 times per week, I find myself less stressed. Some of my peers with mental health issues such as anxiety find going to the gym a very effective and necessary coping strategy to reduce anxiety symptoms.

The article explores how different varieties of exercise interventions such as cycling, yoga and cardio impacted the participant's mental health. It was found that there is a correlation between both variables as the more regular physical activity conducted, the better people's mental health was. Additionally, the effect of aerobic exercises such as cardio was seen to have a larger impact on depressive symptoms or stress that students may feel.

The study results would suggest that interventions with a certain frequency such as 3 times weekly, and of moderate exercise intensity are best suited to decrease certain mental health issues. Therefore, universities should market gym usage or run clubs etc more frequently to students to spread awareness and encourage us to engage fully with them.

There needs to be future research on how the COVID pandemic has affected student's exercise level and how our mental health has changed since. It would be beneficial to develop on individual differences and how to encourage more students to participate in exercise. It could also be developed by exploring how different exercise types also impact mental health so not just focusing on the 5 main interventions but elaborating on more types.

When I go to the gym 4-5 times weekly, I feel a lot more energised and feel as though my mental health has improved. I also agree with the Study 5 where yoga was used as that has helped my stress levels the most during my time at uni.
