After the research is done and the presentations are made, students will briefly present their material in class. To specify this to my content area, I will give students the problem of obesity. I will ask them how they will solve the obesity epidemic in America. I realize that obesity is a huge problem, that it is not currently solved, and might not ever be completely solved. BUT giving students the opportunity to create ideas about things that might help obesity decrease in America will give them ideas for themselves, and it will help them apply some of the knowledge learned from the unit while also being introduced to new ideas in their research. Human development is a unit where students have A LOT of questions. At the beginning of the unit, I will ask students to write down questions that they have about human development (anatomy, pregnancy, contraceptive methods, etc.) They can be about anything and everything. Students will keep this list of questions as we discuss the content. Throughout the lessons in the unit, students will answer the questions they wrote down at the beginning of the unit. I am debating as to whether or not students will turn this in because I don't want them to be embarrassed or afraid of asking certain questions. To incorporate cooperative learning in my classroom, I will have many group discussions. In safety and disease prevention unit, students will be divided up into groups. Each group will be assigned a disease, and they will be required to make a poster about it. The poster will include signs, symptoms, treatments, and a drawn picture of what the disease looks like. Student groups will then briefly present their disease poster to the class. In the groups, students will work with each other to learn about the details of the disease. In the mental and emotional health unit, students will be invited to be a "Hospital Buddy." Hospital buddies write patients that are sick and staying the the hospital for long periods of time. This will go along with the mental and emotional health unit because those in the hospital may not have the greatest mental and emotional health during their stays. Having someone write them will provide them with a little bit of joy and cheer. Just from when I was in high school a few years ago, technology in the classroom has significantly grown. To incorporate in this in my classroom, I will use flipgrid. Flipgrid can be easily incorporated into any lesson. My idea would be in the substance abuse unit. I would ask students to create a video explaining a certain drug, the long and short term effects, and the relevancy of it.
