1930- Great Depression

Made life very hard in many countries. In Germany, people lost jobs and hope, which helped Hitler gain support. Other countries were too focused on their own problems to stop him. This allowed Hitler to break rules and grow stronger, leading to war.

1933-Germany leaves League of Nations & begins rearmament

Hitler took Germany out of the League of Nations and began secretly making the army stronger. In 1935, he showed off the new army in a big parade. Other countries didn’t stop him, which made Hitler feel more confident

1935- Saar Plebiscite & Anglo-German Naval Agreement

People in the Saar voted to rejoin Germany, which made Hitler feel stronger. Britain also made a deal letting Germany build more ships. These events gave Hitler more confidence to break other rules later

1936-Remilitarisation of the Rhineland
