Over the course of this. . . .course, we've been taught to look at music in several different ways. I feel as though my ability to analyze music with more critical thinking has improved significantly. I am now able to point out very specific musical elements that go into creating each song, and I truly believe that it's allowed me to be able to appreciate music more as a whole. Ratliff's book was a very useful source, and it was written in a way that makes music much easire to understand on a conceptual level. The structure of the book, and they way that it is broken down into specific musical elements and properties that define the overall structure of music was really helpful. The only issues that I faced were the few instances where I didn't know a song, and had to identify the musical elements being used in it. It's much easier to fins these characteristics in music that you're already familiar with. However, I must say that mu understanding of music has changed. I now listen to music with a small hint of critical thinking. Overall, 10/10 reading!
