My family means everything to me; they are my greatest blessing and my constant source of love and strength. I am so fortunate to have 4 amazing siblings who each bring their own unique personalities and light into my life (but in the picture, my eldest brother is not in it). One of my siblings has started a beautiful family of their own and is now married with two adorable daughters. These two little girls, my precious nieces, have completely stolen my heart. Watching them grow, laugh, and learn has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

Above all, my deepest love and gratitude go to my mom and dad, who are my pillars of strength and the foundation of everything I have achieved in life. Their unwavering support, love, and guidance have shaped me into the person I am today. I cannot imagine my life without them. They are my greatest inspiration, and I credit all my accomplishments to their sacrifices and belief in me. The bond we share as a family is truly unbreakable, and every moment spent together is something I treasure deeply. My family is my safe place, my happiness, and my reason to keep striving.

Sadaqah is a beautiful and voluntary act of charity in Islam that brings blessings, spiritual growth, and strengthens communities. Unlike zakat, which is obligatory, sadaqah is given purely out of goodwill for the sake of Allah. It is highly encouraged as a way to seek Allah’s pleasure and to help those in need. The essence of Sadaqah lies not just in monetary donations but in acts of kindness, sharing knowledge, and building bonds through generosity. It’s a path to blessings that benefits both the giver and the receiver.

The poster emphasises the importance of giving Sadaqah by referencing a verse from the Quran: “Who will lend to Allah a good loan, which Allah will multiply many times over?” (Quran 2:245). This verse highlights that giving charity is like lending to Allah, and it will be multiplied in return. A Hadith further reassures that “Charity doesn’t decrease the wealth,” emphasising that acts of generosity will only increase blessings in a person’s life. Sadaqah protects from hardships, earns Allah’s forgiveness, and strengthens our connection with Him. It also helps build a caring and supportive community where the needs of the less fortunate are met.

Sadaqah can take many forms. Monetary donations, such as giving to the poor, orphans, or contributing to building mosques, are common acts of charity. However, it is not limited to money alone. Simple acts of kindness, such as sharing knowledge or even smiling at someone, are also forms of Sadaqah. The concept of Sadaqah Jariyah, or continuous charity, is particularly impactful because it benefits people long-term. Examples include establishing trusts (waqf), distributing Qur’ans, or contributing to education and resources that continue to help others over time.

Starting to give Sadaqah is simple and accessible. One can begin by setting aside a small portion of their income each month for charity. Supporting the needy through donations of food, clothes, or essentials is another meaningful way to give. Additionally, volunteering time for community service, such as visiting orphanages, helping at food banks, or organising charitable events, is equally valuable. Every small act, when done with sincerity, becomes a source of blessings and a means of strengthening social bonds.

In conclusion, Sadaqah is not just about giving; it’s about cultivating kindness, generosity, and empathy in everyday life. It protects us from difficulties, brings rewards from Allah, and helps build stronger communities. Whether it is through money, time, or simple gestures of kindness, everyone can give Sadaqah in their own way. By embracing this act of charity, we uplift others while enriching our own lives with blessings and peace.

Through practicing Sadaqah, I have gained so much more than I ever expected. It has brought me closer to Allah and strengthened my faith in ways I didn’t think possible. Giving for the sake of Allah, whether big or small, makes me feel a deep sense of peace and fulfilment. It reminds me that everything I have is a blessing, and sharing it with others brings even greater rewards, both spiritually and in my daily life. I’ve come to realise that Sadaqah is not just about money; it’s about kindness, empathy, and helping wherever I can.

One of the most beautiful things I have gained from giving Sadaqah is protection and comfort. There have been moments in my life when I faced challenges, but after giving to others, I noticed how things started to ease. It’s as if Sadaqah shields me from difficulties, and this brings me a sense of calm. I’ve also learnt to trust that charity doesn’t reduce what I have. In fact, I feel like I’ve been given even more sometimes in the form of opportunities, blessings, or simply the happiness of seeing someone else smile because of my help.

Whether I’m donating to someone in need, sharing food, helping out, or even offering a kind word or a smile, it has taught me how important it is to care for others.

My wishes on how to improve my practice of Sadaqah come from a genuine desire to give more, help more, and make a bigger impact in the lives of others. I want to make charity a consistent part of my life rather than something I only do occasionally. By setting aside a regular portion of my income or resources, I can ensure I continuously contribute to helping those in need. This small habit can grow over time, making generosity a natural part of who I am.

I also want to broaden the ways I give. While monetary donations are important, I believe there are so many other ways to practice Sadaqah. I wish to offer more non-monetary acts of kindness, like sharing my knowledge, helping someone in need of support, or simply showing compassion through a smile or kind words. These small, everyday actions may seem simple, but they can bring joy and relief to someone who might really need it.

I wish to contribute to projects that provide long-term benefits, like funding educational programs, supporting the building of wells for clean water, or helping distribute resources like Qur’ans or school supplies. Knowing that my contribution could continue to benefit others for years to come would give me immense satisfaction and a sense of purpose.

I also hope to use my time more effectively for Sadaqah. Volunteering is something I truly wish to do more often. Whether it’s helping at a food bank, visiting orphanages, or participating in community events, I want to dedicate my energy to actions that make a positive difference. Giving my time and effort can be just as valuable as giving money, and I want to be someone who steps up when there is an opportunity to help.

Working on this project really made me think about what takrim means in our everyday lives. It’s not just about Ramadan but about how we treat people around us. We’re often reminded to be respectful and well-mannered, but actually practising that, especially when we’re tired, emotional, or in a rush, isn’t always easy.

From our poster, we focused on three key ideas. First, standing up for our religion with kindness. Second, using fasting as a way to build patience. And third, showing good character even when things don’t go our way. These sound simple enough, but when we’re put in real situations, they can be challenging.

Our role play helped bring that message to life. A misunderstanding at Family Mart quickly turned into something bigger. The pakcik was upset, probably tired and fasting, but reacting with anger wasn’t the right way. Aiman reminded him that Islam also teaches patience and compassion. Jason and Kevin didn’t mean any harm; they just didn’t realise. It showed how easily things can spiral if we don’t pause and respond calmly.

What I really learnt is that takrim isn’t just about showing respect during religious times. It’s about respecting people, no matter who they are or what they believe. It’s about empathy, kindness, and being willing to understand others. In a diverse country like Malaysia, that kind of mindset matters more than ever.

Takrim isn’t just a word we say. It’s a value we need to live by, especially when it’s not easy to do so.

Reflecting on both CCUB1601 and CCUB1602, I can honestly say that I have grown so much not only in terms of knowledge but also as a person. Each class had its own unique experience and offered something meaningful, which helped me see Islamic values from different angles and apply them in real life.

In CCUB1601, we explored the concept of Sadaqah. At first, I thought charity mainly referred to money, but through the class, I realised that Sadaqah is about much more than that. Giving for the sake of Allah has brought a kind of peace and contentment that is hard to describe. Whether it’s donating money, sharing food, volunteering my time, offering kind words or even smiling at someone, I learnt that these small actions can have a big impact. Sadaqah reminded me to be more grateful, more compassionate, and more connected to the people around me. It has also made me more aware of the struggles others face and helped me feel a sense of purpose, knowing that I can contribute, even in small ways. Interestingly, I noticed that the more I gave, the more I seemed to receive not just material things, but blessings, comfort, and a stronger faith.

CCUB1602 focused on the value of Takrim honouring and respecting others. Through our group work and the role play activity, I learnt just how important it is to practise empathy and understanding, especially in a multi-racial and multi-religious country like Malaysia. Our role play told the story of a misunderstanding during Ramadan, and it really made me reflect on how easily situations can get out of hand when emotions run high. What stood out most to me was the reminder that respect goes both ways and that as Muslims, we are meant to lead by example through kindness, not force. Takrim taught me that true respect is shown in the way we speak, how we react, and how we treat others especially when it’s difficult.

One of the things I appreciated most was how different the two classes felt. In CCUB1601, we gave a presentation, while in CCUB1602, we acted out a role play. As someone who is naturally introverted, both of these activities challenged me in different ways. At first, I was nervous and unsure of myself, but along the way, I felt my confidence slowly growing. Working with my group members helped me open up and communicate better, and by the end of both projects, I noticed real improvement in my social skills. It may not seem like a huge change to others, but for me, it was quite significant.

I’m truly thankful for my group members in both classes. Everyone contributed their ideas and energy, and I learnt a lot just by collaborating with them. I also really appreciate the audience and classmates who engaged with our work. Your reactions and support made the whole experience more rewarding and enjoyable.

These courses were more than just academic subjects for me. They were eye-opening and heartfelt. They reminded me that our faith is not just about knowledge or worship, but also about how we live, how we give, and how we treat others. Whether it was learning to give sincerely through Sadaqah or learning to honour others through Takrim, both experiences have helped shape me into someone more grounded, more mindful, and more giving.

In the end, what I gained from these classes is something I will carry with me for a long time.

When it comes to what I would like to improve, to be honest, I don’t really have any complaints. I truly enjoyed the way our Usrah sister guided and taught us throughout the sessions. Her approach was kind, clear, and very thoughtful I genuinely gained a lot from her. If I had to mention anything at all, maybe the classroom was a little cold sometimes, but as a KEMNS student, I’ve already been trained to survive in freezing lecture halls, so it didn’t bother me much. Overall, I really appreciate everything she has done for us and the effort she put into making each class meaningful. It’s a 10 out of 10 from me, sincerely.
