My Pinterest consists currently of two boards.' Study ideas' which I tried to create with motivation and motivating myself to study in mind. 'Places to go' where I thought looked cool and interesting, therefore it's acting as a bucket list of sorts.

I really enjoyed the process of finding interesting photos and ordering and arranging them into boards. I found this to really help when looking for inspiration and as I enjoy visual media, I really connected with Pinterest.

The mobile app is another part of this service that I found useful as the interface is very sleek and it's really easy to find information and photos without having to use complicated search engines.

Overall I feel like Pinterest will be an application that I will continue to use

Reading With Pocket

Using pocket has been a great experience and is a service that I had no prior knowledge of beforehand. There are very useful tools on the site like the ability to change fonts and size of text in articles, creating an easy to read article which can often be overshadowed by popups and ads on main sites.

The saves section of pocket is really useful as I can save articles that I find interesting by looking at the title. If I don't have time to read an article in full or want to do it at a more convenient time, I can save articles and return to them at a later stage. This tool is really useful and the articles can be grouped together which makes it convenient for me to keep track of articles I have saved

The recommendations section of pallet is another great resource available on the site as I can follow friends and recommend articles to them. The feature of adding a short caption for recommendations is great as I can explain why I want my followers and friends to read the reccomended article.

Pocket Vs. Pinterest

Although both of these applications have a similar premise, they are quite different. I personally enjoyed both.

Pinterest is focused on visual media and organising photos. This is a really great concept and works well in practice. The ability to make boards is great and is much more convenient than a physical mood board.

Pocket is focused on articles and sharing your thoughts. the ability to share articles and save them to read later makes this a very useful site and works much better than similar sites like Flipboard.

Pocket uses social tools better than Pinterest to create a site that I personally would use to connect with friends to see what they are reading and sharing. I feel that Pinterest is a site that I don't immediately think of connecting with other people and would use for personal boards that I wouldn't intend on sharing.

I found the implementation of artificial intelligence really great in both of these sites to make them feel personalised. The way in which they recommend pictures and articles that I would genuinely find interesting is a great way to keep users engaged with the sites.

One thing that I find promising about Pinterest is their application 'shuffles' that launched recently and makes the mood board process a lot more creative by allowing the user to use cutouts and texts to make very visual mood boards that are unique.

Overall I find both apps really easy to use and have enjoyed learning how to take advantage of their individual features.

Datawrapper

Using datawrapper I made the above chart which showcases air pollution in Europe. This source was available from Europa.eu and provided by UCDlibrary. The data on the map indicates which countries have the most pollution according to the size of the circles on the map. This data is visualised on the map and showcases how air pollution is an issue in Europe, especially considering that climate change is such a topical issue and change is needed.

I found this task beneficial to my learning and an important skill which I could use for future learning when presenting data that is ordered geographically. The availability of data in CSV format was useful as this part of collecting data would have taken up much of my time but organisations have some of these available. This is positive as students can use this to understand powerful software like data wrapper.

At first, I found the tool a little overwhelming but the guide on the library website broke things down into manageable steps that made it really accessible and easy to navigate. I believe I will use this tool more in the future when presenting data

For this YouTube video I demonstrated how to use UCD library and google scholar to cite articles that you use and how it can do this for all formats.

I have found this to be a really useful tool in my learning that I would not have seen if I had to been informed about it earlier.

I found the software to record my screen extremely easy to use which made this a fun task. The YouTube editor was also simple and the interface was not complicated which allowed me to edit the video with little knowledge prior to this assignment

the attachment above is my privacy policy and I enjoyed making this as I realised how companies take advantage of users data and how a lot of people unintentionally agree due to long policies.

I enjoyed making a LinkedIn account as its something I have been meaning to do, yet didn't because I felt the interface is overwhelming. Upon watching the tutorial videos I found that it wasn't as tricky as I thought and was able to set up an account.

Luckily, UCD and the current company I work part time for have large LinkedIn accounts and post regularly which meant a lot of my co workers and peers were already engaging with the app.

The layout on mobile is not the most seamless interface but upon taking time to explore the app I realised there are lots of features to really take my career further.

My Digital Strategy: Infographic

I enjoyed this task and making this infographic as it let me get creative and also really think about what I want my digital strategy to include.

Canva was very easy to use and had lots of tutorials and templates available to use. Some were behind a paywall but I did not mind this too much as the free templates were of a high quality. I started with a template then removed the text and some of the animations and replaced it with my own text.

I thought about what I wanted my digital presence to be like and I realised that I need to make myself more easy to find online which LinkedIn helped with. I also wanted to make some of my social media profiles private and make sure what is public at the moment is a true representation of myself
