Black History Month 

Black History Month starts on the 1^st of October and ends on the 31^st of October. Carter G. Woodson and the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History announced the second week of February to be “Negro History Week” in 1926. 
Black History Month is celebrate what black people have contributed to the world and how they got their rights. There are many famous influences who helped with this like:
- Martin Luther King Jr
- Rosa Parks
- Nelson Mandela 
- Barack Obama
- Harriet Tubman
- Sojourner Truth
- Nina Simone
- Mary McLeod Bethune
- Marva Collins

Black History Month starts on the 1^st of October and ends 31^st of October. It was promoted by Carter G Woodson an African-American and Jesse E Moorland. 

Black History is celebrated to show the accomplishments (fighting for equality of black people.)

Black History Month (also known as African-American History Month in the U.S) is an annual observance in Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and the United States. It began as a way for remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is celebrated annually in the United States and Canadian February, as well as in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Republic of Ireland in October.

·        Black history month originates from Negro History Week.

The black history is Monday 1^st October to Wednesday 31^st October 

Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month in the U.S. 

It began as a way for remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. 

 Black History Month was created by historian Carter G. Woodson 

 

Jack Johnson became the first African-American man to become the World Heavyweight Champion boxing title in 1908. He held onto the belt until 1915. John Mercer Langston was the first black man to become a lawyer when he passed the bar in Ohio in 1854. 

It originates from the US and the UK.  It happens because so often in the past, the contributions made by black people to the community were ignored or played down because black people weren't treated the same way as other people because of the colour of their skin. 

Black History Month aims to address this unfairness, by celebrating the achievements and contributions of the black community over the years. Black History Month has been marked in the UK for more than 30 years. It takes place during the month of October.
