What is sedation dentistry?

The term usually means using specific drugs or procedure to make a person calm or make the person easy for the treatment he or she is feeling uneasy for, and the term sedation dentistry means using procedure in any dentist operation to make the patient feel easy or calm about the anxiety he or she is feeling for that specific treatment. All that happens that the patient sits on the chair then the dentist put the drug in to the patient via a medicine or gas and then the patient is kind of unconscious about the pain but not totally unconscious about the surroundings. All the procedures happening in the dentist clinics of Houston or any other state of the USA, the procedures for sedation dentistry are the same as everywhere but the techniques the dentists use can be different.
There are several types of Houston Sedation Dentistry, which are described below.

Types of Houston sedation dentistry

Technically, there are four types of sedation dentistry, which are described one by one down below:

Basic Light sedation – As the name describes clearly, the usual procedure is operated here by making the patient inhale nitrous oxide (a gas that makes people laugh), the light amount of it used that makes people go in the situation of calmness and a little bit of smile, the anxiety of patients basically go away.

General Anesthesia – This is one of the most used technique used to make the patient completely unconscious, literally make the person go to sleepand afterwards perform the dental procedure, most dental operation at Houston sedation dentistry are performed like this.

Moderate sedation – As the term moderate is described, meaning intense but not too much, in moderate sedation dentists make the patient go to sleep by inhaling the larger amount of sedation gas that make them completely unaware or unconscious about the surrounding but they do what the dentists ask them do, kind of like the hypnotizing situation but not entirely like that.

Deep sedation – Now, this is where things go a little serious, patient is put entirely into deep sleep and the patient is totally unconscious, he or she doesn’t know what is happening around and don’t even know what’s happening to their body, sometimes patients even forget to take breath and the assistant of dentist help the patient via instruments for that.
