This was done with similar questions which our group would come up with quick answers in a short time frame. The design thinking task we had to find 3 issues and break them down further using our understanding of empathy and its role in the design process. The most effective activity was the empathy maps. Creating 3 empathy maps of the topics Tree canopies, Public transport, and road maintenance, we wrote about how each had different impacts (pros and cons). We later conducted further research about the chosen problem, looking through local council’s website, news articles, interviews and other sources to gain a better understanding.

The skills I gained throughout the Spin-off project were developing better problem-solving skills when issues were encountered and using my initiative to fix the problem. Having to use time management when people were away was a good skill I developed to know how to create lessons where we can all do our part.

• What challenges did you encounter? How did you overcome these?

When people were away, those became challenges we had to navigate around to make time for them to still do their part. For example, if Olivia were away for a specific day, we would get her to do her part early so that we could still involve her in the video. Another one was when me Milla and I were away for a trip for a week, we would still communicate with each other.

• What is the most successful part of your final infomercial?

The most successful of our final infomercials was watching it be finished and watching the video with my group. After the many takes done to get the perfect clip, it was very satisfying watching it all come together. This felt like the most successful part as it was all put together nicely. It felt that all are hard work was finished and we were able to discuss with my group members things we could improve on in the future.

• What did you learn from watching your peers’ infomercials?

After watching my peers' infomercials, I gathered many things about the differences between mine and theirs. I learned the different techniques they used across their infomercial and all their different ideas and solutions. I had exposure to new perspectives on how other groups offered their ideas to the council problem. We were able to learn from them, understanding different techniques, observing their film styles, their creative strategies, and their presentation approach.

• What did other groups do well?

They all edited their videos well and successfully displayed their idea to the audience. It was well put together, and most groups correctly used persuasive techniques. They really showed how they worked together in a group and used the 5Cs across their videos.

• What improvements would we make if we had the opportunity to do the task again?

Next time, I would work on having better time management as a group, in the Spin Off task 2/3 group members were away for a whole week, which created a struggle for one of our other members. This would be unlikely to happen again, so we would be more prepared, and one person wouldn't have to struggle. In the future, being more prepared and finishing the assignment early would make it smoother and convenient for the whole group.

• Where did our group do really well in the Spinoff task?

We did well in working together and continuously communicating with one another. This was helpful as we would let each other know what parts we are doing to make it fair.

• What Elements of Collaboration were successful?

Being inclusive: This was successful as we were always checking up on our group members, allocating each person a fair amount of what we had to do. This worked well in collaborating as a group.

Being respectful: Always being respectful to one another, acknowledging my peers' different ideas, and branching off from them. Being positive in difficult situations and having appropriate behavior towards my group.

• What improvements could have been made in terms of Collaboration?

Some improvements that could be made in terms of collaboration are still have stronger communication. This can always be improved by having that constant communication, as there were times were miscommunication occurred.

What Persuasive Techniques did we use? How effective were these?

Some persuasive techniques used were mainly ethos, logos, and pathos. These were effective as they enhanced credibility. It created the argument to be more relatable, making the audience share a liking more towards the infomercial, persuading the audience effectively.

This was very crucial to do when planning our infomercial in the spin-off project. We were always interacting with our group members whenever we had the chance. Week 6 was the week we did most of our work due to the fact that most of the group members were away. Engaging with our peers was a huge part of what we did in Week 6.

Engaging in conversation:

Always having open ears towards my group members allowed us to connect with each other to share information. Always actively participating to maintain conversation so we are sure of what all of us are doing and there's no miscommunication.

Our initial thoughts about the Spin Off project are slightly confused. I have a small understanding of what we are doing, but still partially confused. It sounds like an engaging idea that will be fun to work with my group, but I will talk to my group to fully understand the topic.

• What do we still need to know or find out?

We need to find out how we are going to plan this and what we need to create a successful infomercial. We will find this out by using are sources to help give us guidance along the way so we can reach our full potential with our infomercial.

• How can we find this information? Person, survey, internet, experts etc

Doing surveys and asking people around can help give us a better understanding of how topic and being able to gather statistics to make our video more persuasive.

• What is most intriguing about this topic?

Tree Canopies is intriguing since it's not a very well-known issue. People always discuss council issues about rubbish, house issues, etc. Tree canopies are a lesser-known topic.

• What am I most concerned about (either this topic or Spin Off in general).

Not having enough time because 2/3 of our group members are away for week 7, which could create issues with poor time management.

• What persuasive techniques did you find most effective?

Ethos, Pathos, Logos, these are all helpful techniques that I find most effective to use for the infomercial. It will compel people using statistics, Emotion, and some people to back our information up.

Looking at this website it helped me and my group start to think of things that we would want to create a solution for. Started looking at the 17 goals. The 4th one was better education. A string idea that came together was to find an idea to help with managing school workloads. Since it gives students stress and anxiety with not prepared. We wanted to expand this idea to be more open for others, so we branched out and made it for managing workloads not only for students but also for teachers and workers. https://sdgs.un.org/goals

On Friday, we started looking into finding 5 sources to support the emerging understanding of the problem. Individually, we selected one SDG from the website that was of most interest to us and started researching it.
