The first three stages were humans ruining the earth and the last four was the Earth fighting back. This resulted in catastrophic damage to the earth. Humans were left with little food and land that had to be rebuilt. New colonies start to arise to fix the land and start planting food. The cities/ colonies that are mainly focused on are Tosu City and Five Lakes Colony. Tosu City is the capital of everything. They have the most advanced equipment and glass buildings. Tosu city is where The Testing happens. The Testing is what happens after graduation, a select few of the best students go onto the testing and only 20 pass to go onto university where they then get assignments to go to a city where their help and skills are most needed. Five Lakes Colony is where most of our characters originate from. It is more developed than some colonies and they no longer suffer from starvation. Cia's mother is heartbroken she's leaving., her older brother sneaks off and leaves because she got chosen and he did not, and Cia's father is acting weird. After the graduation party, Cia's father asks to speak to her outside. There he tells her about nightmares he has of the Testing and people being killed. He also mentions how after the Testing everyone's memory is wiped clean of the Testing process. He also tells Cia to trust no one and that someone is always watching. Cia tells Tomas about her fathers dreams, the speculations he has, and the cameras she found in the bus. Tomas and Cia are in the same Testing group and decide to look after each other. When they arrive to the Testing center everyone is staring and assumed Five Lakes died off. They began the Testing the next day and get separated into groups. Cia notices that her group is half the size of everyone else's and doesn't know if it is a good or a bad thing.
