Icelanders have thirteen Saint Nicholas.

They are the descendants of the trolls. Jólasveinar, or Christmas trolls begin to descend from the mountains 12 December and this is until Christmas Eve. There is one troll for every day. All Christmas trolls, which are also called "Christmas boys", bring small gifts to polite children. Children, however, must be polite, because if they don't get a rotten potato. 25 December, the trolls begin to return to their homes in the Icelandic mountains. The last of them returns on 6 January and this is the day when Christmas is officially ending in Iceland.
