Electricity is said to be too "expensive" by my parents so we didn't buy it.<br><br><strong>My Carbon Footprint : </strong><br>My family usually uses one blue-cylindrical gas container per month. That kind of gas container contains 12kg of natural gas. Since 1kg of that gas produces 2.75kg of CO2, that means that 12kg would produce 33kg CO2. Change that amount to per day, and that would result in 1.1kg CO2/day. My family is a family of 3, which means that we should divide the number by 3 to find the amount per person. Dividing it by 3 would result in 0.367kg CO2/person and day (the number is rounded up).<br><br><strong>Final answer = 0.367kg CO2/person and day.</strong></div>]]></description>

However, me and my parents have realized on this and are trying to reduce this habit to zero.<br><br><strong>My Carbon footprint : </strong><br>In my house there are two floors, and all the lightbulbs in them are 7W lightbulbs. On the first floor, there are 9 lightbulbs, and 7 lightbulbs on the second one. After doing this, I realize that in a certain day, my family could be wasting the energy of 2 lightbulbs in around 2 hours. That could mean that per day, I would be wasting (7W x 2 hours) of lighting-electricity. That would result in 14W per day. Since there are 3 people in the house, we should divide that number by 3, resulting in 4.667W/person and day.<br><br><strong>Final Answer = 4.667W/person and day.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Reason : </strong><br>Well, there are many reasons why my family is doing this.<br>1. Sometimes the area around and inside the house feels too hot, so we decided to turn on the Air-Con. But then, we would eventually turn it off after several hours.<br>2. We sometimes forgot about the environment, and then decided to just use it when the environment is too hot.<br><br>However there is some good news. Some rules such as restricting Air-Con use during the morning (6 o'clock until 9 o'clock) has been done already. <br><br>In conclusion on this part of the homework, my family as simply realized about this Air-Con problem, and is trying to reduce its usage for a better environment.<br><br><strong>My carbon footprint : </strong><br>So in my two-floored house, there are 3 Air Conditioners. And a day, we used 2 until 3 Air-Cons. Considering the situation and other aspects, it would be reasonable to say that my family wasted 1 Air-Con per day. In a day, each Air-Con would function from 7 to 12 hours in the house (night time included). All the Air-Cons in my house uses the same amount of Watts per hour, which is 850 watts. Using the biggest number of hours to calculate the worst case scenario, that would mean (850W x 12 hours), which means 10,200W wasted per day. Since there are 3 people in the house, we must divide the number by 3 to know the amount of electricity waster per person and day. That would result in 3,400W/person and day.<br><br><strong>Final Answer = 3,400W/person and day.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <title>Using plastic water bottles</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Reason : </strong><br>When going outside the house my family would usually bring 6 330ml water bottles. We would usually do this once a week. There is also a reason why we only bring 6 water bottles, that is because of the assumption that one person would need 2 bottles for the trip.<br><br>This is done to cut water costs. Imagine buying water outside whenever you need it, and you're not buying it in boxes but in bottles. Over time, the price would accumulate and you're just wasting money. As a result, my family decided to use this method of buying a huge supply of water bottles for months in boxes, and then taking it bit by bit whenever we need to get out of the house to some public place.<br><br>And then here's the wrong part of this method : <br>"Why use plastic water bottles when you can just use a huge reusable water bottle to cut down costs even further and help save the environment?"<br><br>The answer is : <br>I and my family is just a bit too lazy to just use our reusable water bottles (an example is the brand Tupperware). Sure, for work, school, and courses reusable water bottles would be used. But for public places, it's a no...<br><br><strong>My carbon footprint : </strong><br>Since the water isn't wasted, and this project only focuses to the amount that is wasted, we will only calculate the plastic packaging of that water bottle.<br><br>After doing some research, turns out on average, a plastic 330ml water bottle only uses 18g of plastic. Since each person uses 2 330ml water bottles, that would result in 660ml water and 36g plastic. After doing some researching, turns out 36g plastic results in 0.036kg CO2. As we are going to do all the calculations in the format "per day", that means that our best option is to average the 0.036kg CO2 into 7 days. That would result in 0.005kg CO2/person and day.<br><br><strong>Final Answer = 0.005kg CO2/person and day.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Example 1 = 0.367 kg CO2/person and day<br>Example 2 = 4.667 W/person and day<br>Example 3 = 3,400 W/person and day</strong><br><br><strong>In total, it's 0.367 kg CO2/person and day and 3,404.667 W/person and day.</strong><br><br>After doing some research, turns out I couldn't find the Jakartan electricity sources and its contribution percentages. Instead, I managed to find out the percentages of the Java Island.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Reason : </strong><br>I have an English Course that I could just walk to it, but I decided to use my family's car. Based on the picture above, you could see that the distance is only approximately 2.3km. The reason I use my car is because of the fact that the roads I am going to pass is quite unsafe. By "unsafe", I do not mean crime or its similar issues. What I meant is the fact that this road doesn't have sidewalks, it's also usually filled with cars and motorcycles moving around with no stopping, and the chances of an accident is also quite high. As a result, I decided to use a car, which causes pollution to the environment.<br><br><strong>My carbon footprint : </strong><br>Based on the picture, you can clearly see that I emit some amount of CO2 in the span of 9 minutes on 2.3km of road.<br>After researching on the internet, turns out, on average, cars produce 120.1g CO2/km.<br><br>I also have courses everyday, and the distance between each course from my house is very similar to this distance, so there's no need to calculate the other courses.<br><br>Finding the amount of carbon released would be : <br>120.1g CO2/km x 2.3km = 276.23g CO2<br><br>However, I don't go to my courses all day. Only on Monday to Friday, so that means that I must convert the answer from per week to per day.<br><br>Per week = 276.23g CO2 x 5 days = 1,381.15g CO2.<br><br>Changing it to per day would be : <br>1,381.15g CO2 ÷ 7 days = 197.307g CO2 (rounded off)<br><br>Converting the answer to kg CO2 would be 0.197307kg CO2.<br>Rounding it off would be 0.197kg CO2.<br><br><strong>Final Answer = 0.197kg CO2/person and day</strong></div>]]></description>

         <title>Wasting-usages of wet tissue</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Reason : </strong><br>Every time me and my family went out for a certain public place from home, we would always bring a pack of wet tissue for health precautions. We might need to clean our hands for certain activities, such as eating, and many, other situations. <br><br>We would do this "going out of home" thing once in a week, and might spend up around 12 pieces of wet tissue. This would mean 4 pieces of wet tissue per person as my family is a family of three. <br><br><strong>My carbon footprint : </strong><br>As from what I have stated in the "Reason" part, each person would use up to 4 pieces of wet tissue. <br><br>After doing a lot of research, I finally found a good number. My research suggests that 1 piece of wet tissue would produce up to 0.3g CO2.<br><br>4 wet tissues would then be 1.2g CO2.<br><br>As I don't go to these kinds of places every day, that means that I must convert this per week format into a per day format. That would result in the number being divided by 7.<br><br>1.2g CO2 ÷ 7 days = 0.171g CO2/day.<br>Converting it into kg CO2 would be 0.000171kg CO2/day.<br><br>However, if I am going to only take 3 digits behind the dot or point, I would be getting zero as my answer. As a result, I have no choice but to take 4 digits behind the dot or point in this calculation.<br><br>Rounding off 0.000171kg CO2/day would be 0.0002kg CO2/day.<br><br><strong>Final Answer = 0.0002kg CO2/person and day</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Reason : </strong><br>In class, sometimes I simply feel a bit bored of the lessons. Because most teachers would say "no" to a laptop or other digital devices, I would only have one thing to do : writing or drawing things on paper. <br><br>However, what makes this thing wasteful, is that once I am done doing those things on the paper, I would just erase everything (to leave to traces to it), and then throw it to the bin, not keeping it for another use. As a result, I could waste around 1 - 3 B5 sized binder-notebook papers per day. <br><br>For the reason on why I am doing this, being honest I don't really know. I just simply decided to do this. Maybe I could blame the lack of discipline in me? (The discipline I am talking about is the discipline to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste).<br><br><strong>My carbon footprint : <br></strong>Firstly, let's try to find out how much CO2 does 1 B5 sized paper pack produce. (Each pack contains 100 B5 sized papers).<br><br>After researching it up, it is found that 1 B5 sized paper would produce around 6g of CO2. <br><br>As I would use up 1 - 3 pieces of this paper per school day, let's choose the number 3 to represent the worst case scenario.<br><br>Our goal would be to convert the layout of per school day, to per week, and finally to per day.<br><br>Per school day = 3 paper x 6g CO2 = 18g CO2/school day<br>Per week = 5 days x 18g CO2 = 90g CO2/week<br>Per day = 90g CO2 ÷ 7 days = 12.857g CO2/day (rounded off)<br><br>Converting the 12.857g CO2 into kg is 0.012857kg CO2. Rounding it off would be 0.013kg CO2<br><br><strong>Final Answer = 0.013kg CO2/person and day.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <title>Losing an eraser every week</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Reason : </strong><br>In a week, I somehow realized that I usually lost 1 Joyko sized eraser, and I lose this per week. The reason to this is obviously because of my negligence and the lack of discipline. <br><br>But I realized that I can't do this forever. So, I keep trying to make sure that I don't lose anything after each school lesson. However, the results didn't improve much and till this day, this still happens. I will try my best to minimize this to zero though...<br><br><strong>My carbon footprint : </strong><br>After googling it up, turns out the name of the eraser that I keep losing is Eraser ER-111. With the measurements above, we can calculate the area of the eraser I am wasting : <br>2cm x 4cm x 1.3cm = 10.4cm<sup>3</sup><br><br>After finding out the area, we need to find out the weight of the eraser. To do that, we just need to find out what is the density of rubber used in making an eraser. Turns out it's 2g/cm<sup>3</sup>.<br><br>Weight = density x volume<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;= 2g/cm<sup>3</sup> x 10.4cm<sup>3</sup> <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;= 20.8g<br>(Converting 20.8g to kg would be 0.021kg)<br><br>After googling things up, I found out that 1kg of rubber produces up to 4kg CO2. Now, we just need to find out the amount of CO2 produced by 0.021kg of eraser rubber : <br><br>Amount of CO2 = 0.021kg rubber x 4kg CO2/1kg rubber<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; = 0.084kg CO2<br><br>Because I lose it per week, I must change the value into per day. That would mean dividing up 0.084kg CO2 by 7 days. The answer would be 0.012kg CO2 / day.          <title>Using non-reusable plastic containers</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Reason : </strong><br>On my school breakfast, my mother would usually give it to me in the form of a plastic packaging. Sometimes it's a reusable one (Tupperware brand), and sometimes it's simply a non-reusable one. However, now, I am starting to realize that in a week, in my 5 schooldays, 3 of my breakfasts would usually be packaged in a non-reusable one, while the rest are reusable.<br><br>I asked my mom on why she did this and she stated that this was all done for convenience. Waking up very early in the morning was quite hard already for her, and she needed to get things done quickly. Plus, once I ate the food already, it doesn't need to be washed and cleaned at home. I could just throw it at the school bin. And if the school bin was full, I could bring it home and throw it at the house's trash bin.<br><br><strong>My carbon footprint : <br></strong>First, we need to specify what type of plastic container I am using. After googling and analyzing it up, turns out I am using the 1,000ml rectangular plastic container. After googling things up again, turns out it needs around 40g of plastic to produce 1 container.<br><br>Now here comes the tricky part, which is trying to find out how much CO2 does this one container produce. After finding out the details of my plastic container. It is found that its 1g plastic would create around 3g CO2.<br><br>In a week, I would be using 3 containers. That means that I will be using this amount of plastic : <br>40g x 3 containers = 120g<br><br>Converting it to the amount of CO2 produced, it would be : <br>120g plastic x 3g CO2 / 1g plastic = 360g CO2<br><br>However, this "360g CO2" is not the usage of per day. This is per week. And since there are 7 days in a week, we would divide up the number by 7. The result is : <br>360g CO2/week ÷ 7 days = 51.429g CO2/day (rounded off)<br><br>We would finally need to convert it into kg CO2, as it is the format we are using for our main measurements in this document. <br><br>51.429g CO2 = 0.051429kg CO2<br>Rounding it off would be 0.051kg CO2.<br><br><strong>Final answer = 0.051kg CO2/person and day</strong></div>]]></description>
