Geraldo was denied service from the Hospital because he was Hispanic. Wetback is a slur used against Hispanics, mainly Mexicans. He died in the Hospital because a surgeon didn't come only because of where he came from. This connects to the immigrant experience by showing the discrimination that Geraldo went through for something as trivial as the color of his skin.

Rosa Vargas had multiple children with a man, but he suddenly left Rosa and her kids with no notice and didn't leave anything for them. Rosa is most likely struggling to make enough money due to being only one parent on Mango St. And having to feed all those children, and the children lack respect for others because Rosa can't control them all by herself.

I chose the image because it represent the people of Mango Street. Everyone is in the dark and trying to reach a brighter place, away from Mango Street where they can make good money and not have to worry about all the problems that they or their friends and family have. The sun in the picture represents a brighter future for the people on Mango Street.

Marin is looking for a way out of the poverty on Mango St. by hoping for someone with money to see her on the street dancing or standing in front of her house and most likely get together with them and then get married. Marin has most likely been doing this for a long time but to no avail.
