The first grade students finished their Little Red Hen unit of study. They concluded by completing their STEAM challenge. Their teachers presented the challenge of creating a design to help the Little Red Hen transport the wheat and flour 3 feet across the floor. They used 6 straws to represent the wheat and a 100 gram weight for the flour. Their design had to have a handle and be pushed or pulled while carrying the wheat for 3 feet. The students worked together and remained persistent to go through the entire design cycle. Check out their awesome engineering skills!

Then they worked together to build their design. Great job!First graders have been studying towers and bridges. They each worked on a design and then collaborated to choose one design to build. Then they worked together to build their design. This group was working on creating a tower. They did such a great job listening to each other's ideas and incorporating them into their final designs!
