Introduction

After reading chapter 1, I keep asking myself what is repetition and how it's important to our lives. For me, repetition is just a simple concept which means an action of repeating something that already been told or done. However, in the world to really understand a word we really need to think deeply inside the meaning behind the word it is. Like Ratliff, repetition is something seems really artistic and can change the behavior, or people thought to an activity or a song. For example, repetition sound alarm can be a sound that help people keep in mind of danger, or just simple as waking up in the morning. However, there is still bad repetition like practice something in the form of repeated scolding, or silent trawling through all possibilities of personal failure, or checking Facebook and social media every second. It can happen when we really want to see something new but we know that we don't and it become a bad habit. Repetition seems to having different meaning to any aspect of life but in music repetition's really important. It's a smart way to combine with variation to make listener focus on some fact or some idea the song want to deliver. This will have listener to stay put and feel the music itself in their soul.

Repetition is a smart psychology operation- a way to make you focus on all that is in fact nonrepetitive. The music seems to stay put while you (or your perceptions) change. Then you stay put while it changes.
-Ben Ratliff-

I really agree with this opinion of Ratliff. That was the same way I felt when I heard a repeated song. My mind seems to think a imagine about something relevant to me in the past like memories or some dream I dream of myself in the future.

When we talk about "repetition" in music, we don't mean one unchanging tone, or exact copy of a tone , over and over without evolution. That doesn't give you any reason to keep listening.
-Bend Ratliff-

For me, repetition should combine with variation to give listener time to really put their mind in the song.
