WEEK 4 RECAP #2: Pope, Reynolds, and Mueller (2019, pp. 66-72) describe the importance of theory to Student Affairs Competency. Thinking about discussion board posts on privilege (e.g., cisgender and male privilege) and last weeks’ activities on gender and LGBTQ equity, why is it so important that theories from women & gender/queer studies inform the work of student affairs professionals? by Nicole J. Harris, Ph.D.

Dewey) so it's important we acknowledge this and literally take the time and energy to be critical of and re-imagine theories. The addition of theory from WGS/Queer Theory/LGBTQ+ Studies has been so critical in starting the movement towards inclusive higher ed literature and practices. Even with this, so little research is being done on the topic.
