I think it's this because before Jimmy used to steal from banks, but when Jimmy saw Annabel he fell in love with her and wanted to make a good impression on her, so he changed his name from Jimmy Valentine to Ralph D. Spencer so she wouldn't think that he was trying to rob her. Jimmy is the type of person that you don't want to be, because everyone will be afraid of you and no one will love you, so he changed into Ralph, who was a great person who everyone loved. If you're a bad person, nobody will love you. If you're a good person, you will be loved and adored.

 I learned from Jimmy/Ralph to be a good person because before he was a terrible person. He stole from banks and was going to steal from Elmore bank, but he saw Annabel who he fell in love with, and her father owns the bank. He restarted his entire life and became a new person, because of love.
