As related with the text we chose, both show the feeling of being poor is horrible and dream to not to be poor anymore.

Both stpories present similar postcolonial elements such as hegemony, otherness and in-betweenness, so we can assume that both authors, even though lived during different periods, shared at a certain level same type of conflicts. There are two main ideas in which the text we choose finds common ground with this text, first is the perspective the narratives are written, both are from children. 
Second and more related to what was seen in class is how the children are often reminded of their otherness from the group they want to be or should be, often facing harsh or offensive treatment and struggle with their position in society.
