1. My work of art specifically applies to my concentration topic by correlating the beauty of the human and the contrast it has upon plants and earth. While both are beautiful, they have their own aspects to make them unique and contrast from each other in a pure way.
2. I want viewers to look at my work as a different piece of work than what they have seen before. I want them to respond to it in whichever way it speaks to them; in most cases, people respond to it as, "wow, that is like nothing ive seen before."
3. I added medium and contrasted the colors to emphasize the uniqueness of the piece.
4. My piece of art reflects my personal voice & style in the way its constructed. I dont want to be like everyone else, and since i consider my art as apart of me, i would never want it to fit in, only to stand out.
5. During this project, i had to take a step back and realize that 1. Spray paint was not going to cooperate with me 2. The rose i was painting was off center so i had to add another rose alongside it to make it look proportional.
6. I took these challenges as more of a motivation to create something more unique.

Concentration Reflection Piece 2 Questions

1. My work of art specifically applies to my concentration topic under the circumstances of the outlined figure and the corresponding nature that is in place of the point of view; the face. In this piece, I incorporated a beautiful flower that naturally drapes down into the positioning of the woman's head; downwards. In the reference photo is a symbol of soul provoking inspiration, and the flower stands as a symbol of purity and beauty, along with utmost potential.
2. I want viewers to look at my work through curiosity and depth. There is no specific intended way in which i expect them to view it, do it as they may wish, but i hope that it is through an open mind, for i intend on opening an outlet of their mind that they have not yet seen.
3. In my art, I specifically make it my intention to place an element of contrast in place of where attention is directed. In this case, the flower serves as an element of contrast to where the face would be.
4. My piece of work reflects my personal voice/style through the simplest of staining of the canvas. My art is typically through experimentation and exploration, and in this case i experimented with watercolor in order to reflect the background of the reference photo unto the background of my painting. Also, i make it my intention to never make my art perfect. Never. I take pride in imperfection in myself, as do i through my art and every piece of it i come up with. In this case, imperfection is abundant, through the details of the flower in accordance to the highlighting and texture. I absolutely love it, and i embrace as much imperfection as possible because i am a firm believer in embracing imperfections and denying a solid definition of perfection.
5. During this project, I really had to take a step back and look at the texture and appearance of my painting, esp. the details of the flower. I didn't want it to look too out of place, so i adjusted it accordingly to make it fit comfortably as i wanted.
6. I responded to these challenges not with fear or discouragement, but with a newfound motivation to add onto my unique style.

Contemporary Artist Reflection Questions

1. I took inspiration from my artist through the "dragging" style she used to smear the appearance of her pieces.
2. The biggest risk i took during this project was the smearing part with the thread. If it went wrong, my texture and intended style for the piece would be in hot water, but i managed, through high stakes and nerves, to successfully drag the thread through the paint as intended and it came out amazing!
3. Overall, i think my aspect of inspiration from the artist turned out amazingly, in accordance to the dragging aspect of the face. Honestly, other than that part of the piece, i was not impressed with the painting as a whole. The facial details did not come out as intended (i had originally intended for the texture to come out smooth and easy rather than rough as it did) and the background was a wreck; the color was undecided and i was not pleased with it afterwards. I really wanted to make my facial features look smooth like she did with hers, but it didn't come out as so.
4. Some skills i developed through this process were using oil to increase the flow of the oil paint, NOT using turpentine to blend oil paint together on the canvas, a test of patience, and how to make bada** textures with thread
5. If i were to do this piece again, i would most DEFINITELY not use oil paint, rather acrylic. i would do this because i realized i couldn't get the smooth and washed out look as i wanted due to the vibrance of the oil paint. I would also make sure not to focus too much on the details of the face because i found that it took away from the inspiration implied from my chosen artist's technique.

VANS project

So this is the progress of my VANS project.
Basically what i did was base my topic off popular topics; Migos (the band who's most recent logo i took inspiration from) and popular/well known local symbols. After realizing i couldnt use Willie or Leslie, i altered my sketch a bit. Luckily, Im in love with Texan culture so it was very easy to make these adjustments. I used this design to look off of in order to transfer to the vans template.
In the process of my design, i used multiple screenshots and layers in photoshop, and prismacolor pencils as my medium due to the vibrant and smooth flow of them. I also used white acrylic to highlight areas.

Collage Padlet Post

1. The idea for my artwork grew out of thinking about the incorporation of negative space into my art; the white, which would serve as the negative space, and the collage, which would serve as the contrast of the negative space.
2. What interests me about this work is the amount of aesthetic incorporated into it. I took excerpts of my taste in aesthetic and put it into one of my works of art.
3. This piece is expressing my taste in aesthetic, as well as a provacative alternative to the famous magazine, "Vanity Fair". In this piece of work, i saw an opportunity to introduce the affair between the new generation that is oblivious and unaware of society's aesthetic (oblivious to the outside world) and the aesthetic of its surrounding society, to which the new generation is exposed to.
4. Something i can appreciate about collage is the interrelationship of it all. I never realized the beauty behind it, only the difficulty of putting one together as a whole.
5. Personally, i believe that the best aspect of my piece is how well the man came out. The silhouette is spot on and recognizable as a man, and the hands are mediocre at best (even that is an overstatement) but you can somewhat make out whats going on.
6. A weak area of my piece? THE ARMS/HANDS. Never have i felt so tempted to rip a piece of my art up out of frustration until this. I feel like it couldve been addressed more appropriately, i.e. the unnecessary gel medium, excessive hot glue, etc.

Scale and proportion concentration questions post

1. This piece of art specifically applies to my concentration topic with the face being replaced with flora.
2. I think the contrast between the man's color scheme (black and white) & the color scheme of the magnolia, as well as the retro style it holds makes this painting unique & strong.
3. This piece of art shows a new way of thinking about my concentration from the last one with the values and the details applied to the body, as opposed to the simple line drawing used for the body concept in my past pieces.
4. This piece of art reflects my personal voice and/or style with its retro style as well as its focus on shading and abstract concepts.
5. I addressed scale and proportion in my work in my attention spent of the man, such as the hand in proportion to the face, and the shoulders evenly proportioned.
6. I feel that i have begun to expand my concentration topic beyond one point of view or area by putting more detail into the body behind the flora. I feel that i need practice on proportion and detail, and i am proud of the outcome of this painting.

1. In my work, I used scale when painting the cloth around the woman.
2. The hardest part of this project for me was shading the statue while still attemting to make it look "soft".
3. I think the contrast between the statue, rose, and background all play together to compose a strong work of art.
4. A weak area within this piece is the shading. I feel like if I were to do this project again, I'd have to minimize the amount of charcoal used, or even use gray instead.
