I changed those ways the adults thoughts: "That will not make you succeed"
I even changed some childhood dreams for "A better future, a job that will make you live and eat".
We both were stripped at some point of important things and parts of us,
just that you are fighting to keep them,
and I just surrendered to "what is right".
So... who is wrong?
Maybe it's not you and neither me,
maybe just the world needs to see,
that some heart is missing here.

So I was expressing that I feel slightly troubled. Why?
Well because after listening to the perspectives of the professionals, after hearing what I thought I knew of autism, the levels of severity, usually one would think that the more severe the less able a person with ASD is able to communicate and I was shocked to listed to this adult woman expressing herself so correctly and professionally regarding her independence in advocacy and how other persons without ASD are not able to fully express their actual needs.
That made me question my own professional practice as special educator, wondering if maybe I am making my students codependent.
Also, I really thought that maybe as society we are failing because we follow the norms and rules that a certain specific group has casted upon us, and these wonderful human beings have their own native language and understanding of the world and it is wonderful, unfortunately is is usually considered not desirable for our society, so if they are able to learn our way of communication and try to include us, why do we keep labeling them as non working or deficient when we have been deficient in trying to understand they neurodivergence and forcing them to fit in our shape of the world when they just have a shape of their own?
Three main question are left behind for me.
Firstly, am I listening enough? I mean my students, their real desires and needs according to what their hopes and dreams are, not their parents and what they think is better for them (which is usually easier for them but not what the actual student really wants and needs) and neither the professionals that just care about statistics and see our students as a fixable being.
Second, am I doing and giving the righteous support? Like I have stated before, this is not a recipe that must be followed equally for everyone, students have different backgrounds and, therefore will need different systems of support.
And last, am I documented enough to serve my community?
