During the Ming Dynasty, the Great Wall was rebuilt to protect China from attacks by Mongols and other nomads. The Wall stretched over 13,000 miles and had important features like watchtowers and signal beacons to help defend the empire. This helped the Ming Dynasty stay strong and focus on growing the country. The Great Wall became a symbol of the empire’s power and unity. The Wall’s restoration also influenced later dynasties, like the Qing, and helped shape China’s military strategies for many years (Liu, 2014).

Source: Liu, X.

During the Ming Dynasty, China launched large-scale maritime explorations led by the famous admiral Zheng He. Between 1405 and 1433, Zheng He sailed to many faraway places like Southeast Asia, India, the Arabian Peninsula, and even Africa. He commanded huge ships and brought back goods, ideas, and even ambassadors from other countries. These voyages helped China build strong trade and diplomatic ties with other regions and showed off China's power and wealth. The Ming Dynasty’s focus on these explorations made China a major player in world trade and set the stage for future connections between China and other parts of the world (Liu, 2014).

Source: Liu, X.

During the Ming Dynasty, China became famous for creating beautiful blue-and-white porcelain, a type of pottery with intricate blue designs painted on a white background. This style of porcelain was highly prized both in China and abroad, and it became one of China's most important exports. Most of this porcelain was made in Jiangxi Province, especially in the city of Jingdezhen, which became the center of porcelain production. Artisans there perfected the techniques for creating porcelain of exceptional quality. These porcelain items were traded along the Silk Road, and many were sent to Europe and the Middle East, making them an important part of China's economy. The success of blue-and-white porcelain helped spread Chinese culture and art around the world (Liu, 2014).

Source: Liu, X.
