1.	Do you agree most parents give their daughters, rather than their sons, more choice of roles they can play?

2.	In the Chinese culture, it is said that one should provide for his daughter, but make his son earn everything he wants. Do you think this thinking is applicable on our society today?

Yes, I agree with it. In a society, the responsibilities of female and male are always different form each other. While in the modern-world, gender equality is highly encouraged, especially to female.

Nowadays, females are encouraged to take up male's occupation such as engineers, construction workers and technicians. Therefore, girls are told by their parents to try different careers in order to have a whole person development. It is definitely beneficial to their further future. While for boys, discrimination is still insisted in the modern world that males having a feminine job such as baby-sitters, nurses and secretaries will be treated as unusual.

Therefore, I think parents will definitely give their daughters to develop different skills besides the social skills such as cooperation, empathy and diligence which are mentioned in the essay before .For example, problem-solving skills and decision-making skills in order to train their daughters to be more independent just like boys.

In my opinion, this thinking is applicable on our society today. To boys, when they were young, they were taught to be tough and should not cry. Even when they have grown up, they were mocked by people when they needed consolation. In our society today, people believed that men are stronger the women and should earn what they want on their own.

For thousands of years in China, most of the Chinese preferred sons rather than daughters because majority of males have more ability to earn more than girls. Therefore, boys take responsibility for their family, instead of girls.

I think that boys should not be taught to stay strong anytime even when they get tired. A guy posted on twitter few years ago, mentioning that he had failed in his carrier and his girlfriend left him, therefore, he was under a huge pressure. However, his peers did not comfort him, instead, they told him to 'man up'. The guy then tried to commit suicide but luckily he was saved by his brother. It was lucky, however, it is not a new issue, the mental health of men should be cared too. They should not earn everything they want on their own, parents should also provide support to them.
