As we looked at many edm videos, we used similar conventions in our music video. When planning for this shot, I applied Goodwin's theory as this screenshot was from the chorus. In the chorus we can hear the artists singing about dancing and we can see the people dancing. As for this shot we used Vernallis' theory when editing and adding in jump cuts, as we wanted to follow the typically conventions of EDM videos. For both of these gif's Vernallis' theory is used. For these gifs the use of jump cuts and slow motion show the tempo is changing as well as showing a wide variety of shots. The first genre was EDM and the second was alternative R&B. For my first genre i looked at Katy B's website. On Katy B's website I noticed that she has a simple black background with brightly coloured text and widgets, in order for them to stand out and look more attractive. For my second genre, I looked at The Weeknd. For his webisite, he also had a black background but he had more simplistic fonts in white. As both of these websits had appealed and inspired me, I decided to use the simple fonts idea from The Weeknd but to use the brightness for my widgets and background. The main reason why I chose to have a more brighter background is so it could have a connection with my digipak. An example of this is a shot of just specific parts of their body. Where as men are shown as a whole and take charge of the scene by breaking the forth wall and looking in to the camera.

For our music video, we chose to challenge this as we have a female lead as our artist. One of the conventions that is challenged is women being used as objects of desire or seen for pleasure.
